hey! i gotta question. lately there has been alot of wind so there has been rough water. will this rough water make it easier to ride on flat water next time???? is the rough water good practice for flat water?

rough water will make flat water seem much better. but i dont think practicing in rough water would help to much because of not being able to edge progressively with a solid stance or anything else. just do what you can with what your given....

Riding on rough water seems more like a pain in the ass to me, also risking injury. To me, I just got somewhere else, or if there isn't, I just don't bother. It is more frustrating than anything.

yes. and rough water is good practice for rough water. riding in chop is different than riding butter. you need to focus a lot more on your technique cause it is a lot harder to set a solid edge.

When we ride rough water we either wakesurf or short rope it. Short ropping it we pull around 20ish (in nice water we ride around 26) and ride about 30ft out. Work on all our more basic stuff, like: re-entry spins (backside and frontside, hs and ts) surface spins and just building up our stamina and muscle memory so we can take longer sets when the water is nice.

you guys want to try riding on the sea i knowsome of you will have, but when youv boarded in sea swell tide rips and chop on that it makes riding on a glass lake like heaven Laughing
ride whene ever you can and give it up when your cream ckrakerd (nakerd) Exclamation
just drope the rope back a bit and get in the wake play in there

im just a beginner...for my third time out i wa son rough water...i was so cut cos it was at a dam..the wind was just rediculous...i found it absolutely useless to learn in...i couldnt cut in...id sit outside the wake for 5 minutes before i had even the slightest chance at hittin the wake...its stuff...i cant wait till next time i get glass...maybe rough water is easier as u get better?

Rough water will also change the wake, so when it is calm you won't be used to it. I have been on water when the chop was so bad it was like hitting a d-up all the time. bad water sucks

I personally hate the chop. I am a beginner as well so its really hard to learn on. I guess we might have to invest in a tube or learn how to wakesurf!

Hmmm tubes are ok but you have to go pretty fast to make it fun, falling off a higher speeds can hurt like a bitch Sad

Embarassed good point. But if it is rough water just spinning around can be fun hitting the chop + wake. I just need to find something to do when its like that. Suppose though if the water was bad I could just give up and head out the the barn to ride the horses.

rough water sucks, I was boarding at sea once while the water was rough, suddenly my board got caught by the chop, my face hit the water so hard that my nose was bleeding.
I was very lucky that we don't have any sharks around here in the nothsea!
