This w2w faceplant gave me a concussion. I did not go to the doctor so no official diagnosis. I landed right into the faceplant. I was dizzy for days. Felt like I was going to throw up for a day or so. Didn't ride for almost two weeks after it. It hurt real bad. It may be hard to tell by the pictures but my head smacked the water so hard that I lost ten seconds of memory. It was Smack then I was on my back looking into the sky. Don't laugh at my crappy form into the wake.

jayp, ouch man!!! you might want to get that checked out though. It's not wise to leave a knock like that unchecked.

DC, dayum! That had to hurt.

I did my big one last summer, got sloppy on a 360 and just ate it, but I hit the side of my head and blew out my eardrum. My friends were trying to help, and all I could do was say "huh?"

Can't help but laugh, because we have all been their. I did the same thing 2 summers ago. My huband said when I cought my toeside edge I just strait faceplated, never reacted was standing strait up. All I remember is the sky spining and telling my husband to come get me. He had to jump in and pull me to the boat.
Hella headache for 3 days thought I was gona barf.
Wish I had picks to remeber it Very Happy

yep, we've all been there. Got my first wakeboarding concussion on a very bad oa 3. Didn't know where I was or why for 3 hours. Watching face plants is pretty much the best crash b/c it's happened to everyone and when you can hear the smack in the boat, you know it was a good one Very Happy

Ive done my share. Ended up with a bulged disk in my neck. I couldnt sleep on anything but my back for about three months, lots of physical therapy, and lost almost all the muscle in my shoulder from the nerve getting pinched. I havent wakeboarded since august because of it. But....I cant wait for it to warm up..Ill be out there again Very Happy

i have had too many to count. i think ive gotten like 3 concussions or so.

but the worst thing that has happened to me was not this last summer but the one before that. I was wakeboarding in the intracoastal in one direction and my buddy was wakeboarding behind another boat going the opposite way. we both cut out, don't really know what i was doing but anway i ended up getting closelined by his rope when we were both going in opposite directions, it actually snapped my rope too. I think I broke my arm but i never went to the doctor so i don't know for sure. but i am almost certain it was broken. it sucked
and i have been run over but the boat wasn't going that fast. and i pushed off the bottom of the boat to try to stay away from the propeller

baker, you got away from the propeller, right?

http://photos.wakeboarder.com/showphoto.php?photo=11729&cat=508 The last one in this vid gave me a pretty bad concussion. It seemed like I stayed underwater for like five minutes, and I heard the noise that R2 D2 makes when he gets shot. Like the really high pitch screem.

http://photos.wakeboarder.com/showphoto.php?photo=11883&cat=509 This one didn't give me a concussion, but it was a pretty bad crash. You can hear the smack that my board makes and then the smack that my face makes a second later.

Had mine last season (my first season) jus warmin up with a regular W2W method...overcleared the wake by a bunch I guess and landed and the chops from another boat. i was down immediately, blood from my nose, blood from my nose, minor concussion, blurred vision in one eye and it was cold so it was all that much worse. I couldnt remember about 10 seconds befor that either my dad had to fill me in. I was riding again the next day Cool

i think the worst one i had was when i was first learning to ride, i was the first one to learn out of my friends and had no idea how fast to go. was going way to fast cought the toe side edge trying to go w2w going like 28 or so. blacked out for about 5 mins had to go to the hospital and all that, i decided that was to fast real quick.

i had a faceplant the first time out 2 or 3 years ago. when i hit the water, i had water get stuck (i guess) and couldn't hear anything for 2 or 3 days. it was a bummer, but i was pretty relaxed from all the ocean sounds in my head Laughing

I had a pretty face plant on a backroll attempt this season, i was dizzy for a few seconds.....but I have yet to have a REALLY bad one. My cousin on the other hand is another story, this was his first season wakeboarding so there were plenty of entertaining faceplants for us to watch on the boat.

Well, I'd like to say I was doing something really impressive when I had my biggest faceplant in awhile last summer. Unfortunately, it happened when I was just doing a quick ollie 180 out in the flats. Apparently I forgot the "ollie" part and just turned the board instead. Don't you just love that brief moment when you realize you're about to crash and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it?

Anyway, driver said he didn't see it happen, but knew it was bad because he heard it over the stereo. I came to my senses about the time he had circled back. While I survived the crash, sadly my lifevest did not. Suffered a complete blowout of the zipper and both buckles and had to be retired.

Man, face slapping the water is the worst. Only wakeboarders truly know how hard water gets when you're hauling ass! Twisted Evil
