how to get sponsored????????

okay i have wakeboarded for about one summer out of that i have only wakeboarded about 8 hours total me riding. I can do 180 regular and switch and i can do a lot of diffferent grabs while doing the 180. I also can do a 360 toeside and almost a 540 toeside. I want to know how hard it is to get sponsored bc i think i am going to take my riding to a whole new level and start competing.

cg_wakeboarder_69, you will have a hard time getting sponsored. can you land all those tricks all the time, and without a crappy style? plus, many people get sponsored because of their attitude and it seems your just in it for the wrong reasons if your already looking to get sponsored instead of just having fun.

Just wait to get onto the scene and wait for somebody to ask to sponsor you, don't ask somebody to sponsor you. It'll come.

Stewie, hmmm... You do have to market yourself to people. If you wait for them to come to you, one might not ever see the sponsors they are after. Back when I was riding sponsored, I did what you said, and all I had was weak sponsors. Again, if you are as good as you claim after the short period you have been riding, start sending unedited tapes to different companies that are of interest of you, and stay in contact with them. Let me give you some heads up though. Being a sponsored rider is pretty kick ass at first, but it will get old really fast. The ones, who say attitude is your best shot, are only partly correct. The good attitude helps you get sponsored, but nobody wants a Jesus Christ who finishes dead last every competition on their team. Good luck, and have fun in the mean time.

so what you are saying is that you think if you get a sponser it is going to make you a better ride because "you will step it up" why dont you try stepping it up and then if people are looking to sponser riders and you have "stepped it up" to the right level they may sponser you.

P.S. Can you do any heelside tricks at all.

not happening, u gotta get better first, ALOT, wheres all the inverts and stuff, plus now a days, sponsers are looking for younger riders like 13,14 yr old type thing

Hmmm yeah, if you want to 'step it up' you should probably do that yourself, then let the people find you. Wakeboarding is for enjoyment, make sure you enjoy it before you start doing all that sort of stuff...

so does this mean i can get sponsored or no because i would like to know if i should try now or wait and ride this whole year and then try. You said they go for younger kids so i dont want to wait when im 16 bc then i wont look as good because ill be older compared to a younger kid with same riding skill.

haven't we been through all this. You need to be a good rider and have the right attidute to get sponsered and as loads of people have said you should "step it up" first and wait for the right people to come to you asMr. Top Hat, said you need to be in it for all the right reasons.

You are going to be lame like the rest of us who are unsponsored and live in our parents basement, and masterbate constantly, while hoping our parents dont catch us. If I had it to do over again, I wouldnt have ever been sponsored, and would have continued to ride to impress chicks rather then dudes with money. i ride for the pure thrill of it, i dnt care if i get sponsored....ever. i love riding because my mind is free on the water and then stomping new tricks is just a bonus.

no is all i want is a board shop sponsor bc at my school no one cares if u wakeboard they just care about football and if u say u wakeboard they are just like well are u sponsored and im like no i ride for fun. then they are like well u must suck so i just want a sponsor so i can prove to them i dont suck and also ride for fun kkk im not some stuck up kid that just does it for a sponsor kk i dont like hearing that stuff.
