there is a lot more out there besides parks and byerly. there are quite a few online shops that offer a boardfinder and all you do is enter your height, weight, skill, and style and some other things and boom. it automatically finds boards that you would probably like based on your input

Just from what I have heard, I would suggest the Parks between those two. I have only heard of a couple people riding the new byerly shape and actually liking it. Everyone that owns a Parks loves it, of course most of them are still working on wake jumps Rolling Eyes

What is your riding style, go big and fast, or more snowboard spinny style?

intotheflats, I have heard you like the parks or you hate it! I had an 05 parks this year took it back after 5 days of riding it. It has a riding style all it's own.

Well my one friend has a byerly and another friend has a parks...both 04 though..i actually like the byerly better..it felt more stable on the water...the paks was to squirely...i was wasting to much time and energy trying to keep the board steady...i think i will buy the byerly

slow in what way scott? I rode the 3DS, which hyperlite claims to be their fastest shape, which was too slow for me. I switched to a Byerly today and found it to be much faster, but still predictable.

I always found myself, waiting and waiting, and waiting for the 3Ds to the point that I couldn't get the pop I wanted b/c it took half the distance to the wake to get the board to catchup.

Back to the original topic...Bylery over Parks. I rode a Parks for several years before switching, which I should have done a while ago. After riding the two boards, I find the Bylery to be more predicatable, so you can still butterslide, powerslide and ollie it nicely. The parks was very unforgiving as you have to hit the wake the exact same way everytime or else the pop is all over the place.

aaahh ok dude straight up along with most every one on here who doesnt already know this im not gonna be a dick about it but you seriously need to look at other boards. I live in a neighborhood where everyone has money to wakeboard and everyone has a nice boat, xstar sante etc, and everyone rides a parks or byerly, and everyone sucks!!! boards are all built different and because parks rides it or one of your best friends does not mean you should get it. I made the same mistake thinking i could ride the subjekt as a first board. It took me a full month to really learn how to ride that board, that shouldnt be the case you shouldnt learn to ride the board how its supposed to be ridden your supposed to ride a board that fits your style. Im not saying dont get a parks or byerly, im saying demo some or ride friends boards to have something to compare to, you dont want a board holding you back and keeping you from advancing in your tricks.

and if you want another personal experience pm wakerider07 he had a parks and flat out hated it luckily hes got a connection and gator hooked him up with a free caddy and he loves it! Wakerider07 can really rip but the parks was just straight not doin the job for him.

okay.. im on the verge of buying a Byerly 137.. looking for something super sharp turning and fast as hell.. into carving and slapping wakes hard and flying hiiiiigh W2W.. isn't everyone?

im 6'1"/180 lbs, but have been skating/surfing/snowboarding since i was 5, and ride a 5'11" surfboard which yeah is on the small side.. i like the fast cuts and freedom that small boards give you..

is this bad?

riding a 142 2003 byerly now.. love it but i want that extra cut..

whatchy'all think? you might be able to come use my tower in the st johns in orlando some time if you help out Wink

fast and byerly do not belong in the same sentence. And you should know having an '03 byerly that it is not a fast board at all. The new Byerly's aren't any faster. I have an '03 Byerly 142 DNA that I will keep forever. It's the best board I have ridden IMO.

Maybe a PS3? Look into other brands too. CWB Absolute, LF Subjekt, mayyyyybe a Gator Caddy. The LF Trip is more your skill level and taste.

I'd say a premier. Its close to the same shape as the '03 byerly but with a less abrupt rocker making it a little faster. Doesn't quite have the same explosive pop as the byerly IMO but you have to sacrifice something to get something. Don't get me wrong though, it still pops like hell

I ride a 04 premier dna at the moment, and think its got to be best board i have ever ridden. So predictable, super fast and it holds its edge so well even without the centre fin.

If you get a premier you will not be disappointed.

..by the way I just realized that I actually have a 2000 Byerly 142... crazy.. I just assumed it was an '03.. I never actually knew.. I bought it brand new off some kid and slapped some 04 Temet bindings on there and she does me right.. you know? Had no probs with the board except that it feels heavy as hell.. y'all reckon that I would notice a difference if I pick up a newer model? Have the shapes come that far to nice a world of difference?

Sorry for the full on n00b questions.. I was stuck surfing for 6 years in Costa Rica while wakeboarding got huge up here.. only starting getting crazy with it last year... help is more than appreciated.. this summer the tower is gonna get rocked Cool

I was flipping though the new Alliance last night and saw the ad for the 06 Byerly. Did they do something to the shape on it or something, It looks the same to me?

The reason I bring this up is because I have an 04 model and I can confirm IT IS A SLOW BOARD. The ad stated:

Quote:
The ultimate board for shorter cuts and more hang time. Creates a lot of speed in a short distance – doesn’t set as hard of an edge for tricks out into the flats like some of our other boards, but creates a quicker edge transfer.

I just don't feel like I get this out of my 04.

I like mine but I have never rode a Parks. It really is a Love it / Hate it board. I would recommend if you cant demo it don't buy it for that reason alone. There are alot more people that hate it IMO. The only reason that I probably like mine is because it was my 1st board as a noob, and I learned to wakeboard on it. It is the worst, most unforgiving board a beginner could pick. Dang, that was a stupid move on my part. Confused

The only thing I dont like about mine is the weight. It is really heavy compared to the other boards I pull off the racks in a day.

Also, anyone know whats up with the pricing? MSRP is 380, last year it was 450 along with the Parks. You can get a new 05 for about the same price as an 04 closeout right now Confused
