gday everyone im nick how r ya?

i just bought my first board a couple of weeks ago...a crank soar 135...as far as im aware its a reasonable board for beginners

anyway...i went out for the first time the other day with a family friend who owns the boat...i had no trouble getting up..i was a bit sketchy on the water with balance n stuff at first but now its going alright...

i was just wondering...what now? whats the very first most important things i should try to learn? ollie? edging? riding switch?..i havent attempted even jumping the wake yet..still getting use to the board Confused but i think i really need to learn some basics..

thanks

nick

learn edging before olleing. I would try surface 180s before ollieing. You may want to try riding without the center fins after you get some practice edging. This will help you with your surface tricks, as well, as help you develop your edging technique. You will rely on your edging a lot more for board control, than the fins.
As far as olleing..you might find it easier to let go of your back hand, and push hard on your back foot.
Actually do a search on ollie, there have been discussions about how to do it , etc.

welcome to the site, and remember the SEARCH FUNCTION AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE IS YOUR BEST FRIEND HERE!!

Enjoy your stay, and congrats on your new passion, it is addicting! Very Happy

I dont know much about geography, but from your "online accent" I would guess that you're from Australia? I could be way off, but anyways, welcome. Also, dont feel like youre confined to just doing surface tricks and ollies at first. Or dont think that you have to be able to pull off a surface spin before going wake to wake. The beauty of this sport is that we can do whatever the heck we want, whenever we want. BUT if you want to progress, you need to start from scratch. Certain tricks require the ability to do other tricks beforehand. So dont kill yourself, and ride within your own limits. But feel free to try out stuff too. I would also suggest setting goals of things you want to accomplish the next time you go out. I need to do that more often because sometimes, no, alot of the time I skip the basics that need to be worked on, and just do what I know how to do best. Oh, and as far as clubs go, the only wakeboard clubs I know of are college clubs. But definately go to your local board shop, or the marina or somewhere just to meet people in the industry, and hopefully get a few pulls in here and there. Wow that was long....
