Tower Hailer/Loudspeaker Project?

I have tower speakers, amp and CD tuner. I was wondering if anyone ever consider trying to hook up a microphone some how to create a hailer system?

yes i have done that before.
i used a simple 6 channel mixer from behringer and connected a headset to one of the channels. it worked as long as you stayed behind the speakers.
I couldn,t crank it up when i was standing on the swimplatform or anywhere in front of the speakers because of the feedback.
now i use a simple 30w megaphone it looks silly but it does the job well and the rider can hear us very well while boarding.
