I am new to wakeboarding and ride goofy footed. When trying to jump the wake I prefer the right side of the wake making me have to learn cut using the ts edge and when I land the board is sideways and I loose boat speed and end up sitting down on the water. What do I need to do to prevent this from happening and should I get more comfortable on the left side of the wake and trying to jump using the hs edge? Also, I tend to want to go into a 180 surface spin on my landings causing to much at once and to more falls than landings. This happens more when I try to harder to the wake. All and any responses wil be greatly appreciated and the responses on my previous qustion jumping and landing it have really been helpfull.
Thanks,
bmesner |

It's normal. I was helping my friend ride, and he does the same. For most, jumping HS comes a little more natural, and in your case, it's TS. Perfectly normal.
Experiment, bro! Try riding out regular to see if it's not as awkward.
As far as landing goes, just land straight. Carry your edge through when landing and it should come through just fine.
Good luck! _________________

Hey bmesner,
As in the other thread, to prevent turning in the air, keep the handle on your lead hip, keeping that hip up and out - stand tall, looking out at the horizon - what's happening to you is the handle is getting out aways in front of you (arms extended) then of course the boat is just going to pull you off balance - another good TS tip is to let go with your back hand once you've popped off the wake - this will also help prevent an inadvertant spin.
For me, the inadvertant spin is not as pronounced when I jump HS, as QNev, suggests, try that, keep the handle in at that lead hip to stop you from being pulled forward and off balance, stand tall, looking out at the horizon, do small ones first getting that technique down, then just go progressively bigger until you can land stuff w2w from a full cut out - don't get frustrated - you ARE NOT supposed to be able to do this stuff fist time, it can take an entire season to get the basics down...but ain't it fun

I did the same thing. Practice both sides evenly. I went from ts to hs and am now having to relearn ts due to how you land and cut in. _________________ i have mastered the art of the wipeout. |

good advice, try nd stick ur hs first as most people find that comes more naturally. experiment between regular and goofy to see which feels most comfortable, this will help with your switch riding too! _________________ There's nothing like a good old faceplant to wake you up in the morning! |

when you jump ts you should keep leaning forward on your ts when you land. this will keep the board from sliding 180 and the same hs. lean back on your hs when you land. you will keep speed if not increas. _________________ Its hard being a chick rider, you have to know how to ride, and make sure your still wearing your bikini after busting. |
