At what point in the learning process is it beneficial (worth the money) to switch to a board with a 3 stage rocker?

1MUTCJ7, rockers depend soley on your riding style, and most importantly the shape of the wake. That simple.

Yea, there's no set point, but when you find yourself wanting some more pop for bigger tricks, go for the three stage.

jmac2173, uhhh, no... The rocker plays very little part in pop itself. In fact, it truly adds hang time, not pop as you think. Its what board fits YOUR style, and what board fits YOUR wake.

Greg_SA, All depends on the feel you want. If you have a super kicky wake, you probably dont want a super kicky board, maybe look at a mellower, continuous rocker. If you have a mellow wake and want more pop, look for a 3-stage board.

Cool, Thanks... We ride a Premier on a rather small wake (outboard) but I'm not sure how it compares to "real" wakes in term of steepness. All I know is that its small Very Happy

I am sorry for the question. But can some one explain to me what the rocker is and if you can show me some pics I would really apreciate that.

Thank you

ccameselle, the rocker is the general shape or line of the bottom of the board. A continuous rocker has a smooth Continuous curved line along the length of the board while a 3 stage has a line that is broken into three stages with the center one being flat.

Another way to think about it or to test a board would be to drop it on a table, a continuous rocker with rock like a rocking chair while a three stage will just land flat on the table.
