I got new boots today, size 12. And I realized that they go over the side of my board pretty far. I got pics so could anyone give me feedback as to if its fine or if my toes will catch or whatever. Thanks.

Dude, you need a WAY wider board. Your toes should only hang over 1/4-1/2" at most. There is no way you can carve a turn on that board. Here's my set up 9.5 boot on a 25.5 board, I despise toe drag!

You also need to get some bigger bindings or pull the heel cup back as far as it can go so your boot is more centered in that binding. I could see the ball of your foot hurting bad because the binding toe ramp is right under it.

Well they are technine mfm solo's so its one size fits all, well 8.5-12 and i have 12. They are super adjustable so i guess I'll read the manual and see what i can do. But I'm almost definetly not buying a new board cause I'm really happy with this one so I really hope it works out.

That's not that bad, just don't turn toeside. Laughing

Seriously though, I would look into some riser plates, if you're not going to get a board that fits you the best you can do is make it work. My buddy has the Palmer Plates and they are the only thing that helps him with his size 12 guns.

Yep, they work w/any bindings. Yes, they are well worth it, honestly w/that set up I can say that you've probably never carved a turn. W/the proper set up it will open up whole new world of snowboarding that you never knew exsisted.

What size/model Salomon is that?

Jay Dutton, uhh yea I have carved actually, what the hell is that supposed to mean. I'm no newb, I'm just not loaded with cash. And it's a 153(i think) salomon prospect.

Well it's my first time getting new gear, everything else i had was either cheap or hand me down so I'm new to the big boot scheme of things. And i already said that i took those pics right when i got home, i adjusted the bindings since then and it's better.

I know you're all pumped up on your new set up, but that board is only 24.8 cm it's not possible to carve that board properly w/big dogs.. You're 14 and rockin 12's? You may want to downsize your boots if possilbe, I wear street shoe of 10.5-11 and snowbaord boots 9.5. Remember that snowboard boots will pack out a bit. Mayb those boots fit you perfect? Just tring to offer advice to make your ride better, not knock you.

I've been riding for nearly 20 years and am in snowobard shops on a weekly basis for work. I'm a full on gear head when it comes to snowboarding so I know what I'm talking about

Jay Dutton, Alright, I completely understand man. I think maybe DC boots fit small or something because they fit perfectly and I'm still growing and now that the heel is adjusted, I checked it out and it seems fine. I think ill still play it safe and get a riser though.

One more question, all these risers on here are upwards of 60$,(and I'm in Canadian currency so it would end up being more). What does this riser have that say a 25$ one wouldn't?

Those risers on ebay are the same thing as the $70 ones from that online shop, just cheaper. What $25 ones are you talking about?

One of my buddies said he got some risers for like 25$ from a local boardshop. Unfortunately his board got stolen so i can't scam them off him, but yea he said they were cheap.

ridehatzic, they provide better leverage for turning in general. You're up higher off the board so it creates a better response.

even if you pushed the boots way back they're still too big for the board. there is such a thing as heel drag too lol.

Yea, I rented a board for a day at the canyons last year (i ski normally, but wanted to ride again for a day). Once I got comfortable on the board again I started going for some hard carves at speed. One big heelside carve and boom, next thing i know i'm half concious laying in the middle of a slope.

Couldn't figure out why I went down, then realized the back of the boot was a little far off the board and when i had really gone down for a carve the heel had hit the snow and lifted the edge off.

I don't know if someone has already mentioned this because i can't be bothered to read the whole thread, but you need to buy BURTON BOARDS and BINDINGS because the triangle bolt hole pattern allows you to slide the boot much further to the back of the board than the standard 4 hole bolt pattern.

get risers. if u have big boots they will help. or try and trade someone ur board, because ur boots are huge and that board is tinny. no matter what ur going to have a lot of toe and heel drag, palmer plates with give u more response, more ollie power, and help with lessening the offects of toe and heel drag. there a good investment even if ur boots fit perfect on ur board.

absolutofft, are you not paying attention? read next time please. all that would do is change the problem from toe drag to heel drag.

Hate to bring back an old thread but I finally took some pictures of my setup after adjusting the bindings. I think it looks better.

You need a wider board bro. You will hate the toe drag on those boots when you ride something steep. If you don't have a lot of cash, look for a used Ride Yukon or a Burton Canyon. I have had both and the Canyon is a sick board. They are both designed for people with big feet.
