How do I start grabbing my R2R's and where is the best place to grab them? I figure it would be easiest to either grab the nose or bend both knees and grab more on the heelside edge up by the nose. Should my takeoff be any different or do I just bend my knees once I'm in the air?

Thanks!

Here is my takeoff if that helps.

Your takeoff looks good for a normal r2r, but you'll never grab them if you do it that way. You've probably heard this before, but with every grabbed invert, you need to grab and THEN flip. In this case, you still want to hold the strong edge through the wake, but look to your board and grab it before you throw your head and shoulders back. It feels weird at first, like you're going to underrotate, but that's the way to do it. When I do them I like to use a slightly flatter edge coming into the wake, because I it helps me keep the board closer to my body when I pop (mentally at least). Best of luck. It's a fun trick!

When I come into the wake for certain grabbed flips, I bend my knees alot more and come in a little more slowly to help take some tension off the line. Bending your knees more when you edge will also make your body less stretched throughout the air. Like ty540 says, grab, then flip.

Thanks...I've been on a Premier for the last 4 years but really like the 3DS. We keep our boat at Lake Lavon so that's where we usually ride. What about you?

Thanks for the tips. I'll have to try them out. I think I cheat and throw the R2R a little early, so like you all said, it would be harder for me to get the grab. I'll work on a more bent knee approach and grab it first.

i throw my r2r early sometimes, mostly to get "ready" to try a mobe. i can't grab the r2r yet though, but i have tried to. i don't usually feel comfortable with going for the grab and still rotating yet just because i don't want to over/under rotate. next year though, i will try to grab all of mine. i said that for this year but...nope.

Anyone else feel like its easier to grab a half cab roll? I always grab or double grab my halfcabs and it has become such a habit I think it would be easier than on a straight r2r.

Here is the whole sequence just for fun. Notice my chicken arm on the landing!!!

edge a little softer than normal, and dont put so much "throw" effort into the trick. if you grab early, you can finish the flip just fine. it looks and feels 1000x better than hucked r2rs.

K-wood Kid, i think its easier grabbing a half cab roll than a r2r bc your landing back toeside opposed to switch ts
