Would a board with more rocker help? which one?

Hi guys,

I have an O/B on my boat and have been wakeboarding for the last 2 years.. Its a heavy V hull that leaves a fun wake to ride but the shape is not as sharp or as high as that of a pro boat and will never completely satisfy me. The problem is that i use this boat for more than just wakeboarding so buying a true wakeboard boat is out of the question for now.. I ride a temet (DNA-04) a great continuous board with 2.6" rocker but i wonder Idea

if a board with more rocker would help me get more air from this wake? Would a board like the transcend (3.10 rocker) from CWB help? I have not ridden many different boards so im not sure what to get. Rolling Eyes

I think your boards fine... try working on perfecting your foundation like progessive edge, keeping your edge through the wake and, loading the line. these will be a key influence on how much air you get rather than the board.

I'm getting a Transcend for riding behind an outboard but for a completely different reason. I have a problem with my wake being soft so I wanted a SLOW board so I could get line tension without the speed that makes me crash through the wake. For now just work on your technique. I'm not looking for the "pop" of the transcend. I just want the rocker for the speed.

Shaggy, the temet is probably one of the best board designs out there, and i cant think of one thing that i dont like about it.. Just thought a board with more rocker could help me get more air from a wake like mine.. Keeping my edge through the wake does need some perfecting though.

The more rocker a board has the slower it will move through a cut and the slower it will accelerate. If you think about it it's really simple physics, the water has to go over the curve of the board no matter what but the amount of curve is what dictates the speed. I dont know if that made sense... Just trust me here, the more rocker a board has, the slower it will be. Also, a three stage rocker will slow a board down considerably because its not a smooth curve.

Remember, line tension (NOT SPEED) is what gives you "pop". I want the Transcend so I can get the line tension without the speed.

Ya a board with more rocker is going to help the boards pop, and it will help with a softer landing as well. The CWB trancend or the Absolute have sick POP. The 06 Trancend has a new speed slick bottom IMO it fixed the problem with the 05 being a little sluggish.

If you want the line tension without the speed a board with more rocker will create that. The new Transcend has the slicker bottom so it will have the speed I don't want, hence why I bought an 05.

Thanks Innov8, Ballywho... All clear on the transcend rocker, but now that the subject came up, what makes the 06 slicker than the 05?

I bet that very soon we will be seeing a slicker board with molded air pockets in the bottom just like those on bodyboards used to reduce friction Idea

.. maybe that board would be to loose though. But definitely faster.

They just put a different coating on the new 06's to make it faster, it's got a slicker bottom, thats all.
