Anybody ever tried a body slide(leaning all the way backwards on the water)? What do you do with the handle? above your head? Anyone get both fins out of the water? What boat speed were you going?

Thanks

hahaha thats so old school i love it. There used to be a video on here of some old guy doing a 360 on his back. I just tried to find it but it didnt show up. Ive never tried it though. My guess would be regular speed. when ive seen it done the people cut out heelside, let go with their rear hand and just sorta fell back and let themselves drag. if u really wanny try something cool, take a surfboard, sit on it with your feet on the sides, and have the boat drag you. Once you hit about 25 mph you can begin to stand up and barefoot ski. Thatd be the best bet for learning a back slide. Barefoot skiing is sick

The video of the guy doing the 360 slide is still here, Its sweet I saw it the other day. It"s a lot like a "tumble turn". If you do it off a hard cut you increased speed so the boat speed dosen't have to be increased a ton for this manuver I doubt, but it probably wouldnt' hurt having the boat going a bit faster. I haven't done one in forever but the key to the barefoot tumbleturn is pulling the handle straight to your hip to complete the spin. The easiest way to do the trick is off a boom. Barefoot speed varies depending on weight. I weigh 205 & go full throttle 47mph give or take a couple.

i read a story about a guy who was doing that and went right through a buoy, sliced it like a chainsaw. it hurt so bad he was off his board for a week and had to get 10 stitches. good luck

Ive done the surfboard thing and barefooted and I was going about 25-28 and still did it. Ok so I was 120 lbs then but for an amateur just to learn you dont have to go 40-50 mph.

tinymonkey, Ive done boom and behind. (For about a couple hundred feet Laughing ) It may be easier faster but if you lean back enough kinda like a wakeboard you can go a lot slower. Im a wuss, I just dont want to fall at 40 mph!

barefooting speed= body weight in lbs divided by 10 plus 20mph so at 200lbs/10=20+20=40mph....trust me barefooting at 25mph bullchit.

the way i was taught was to lay on ur back floating in the water. and cross ur legs over the rope and arch your back. wait until the boats speeds up enough so that you skim on the water. then uncross your feet and plant em in the water. if water is spraying in your face you are going to slow, if your feet slip out you are going to fast. anyway when u get good at barefooting its not that hard to skim on ur arse/back etc

wake quake got it exactly right. only thing i would change is the crossing ur feet over the rope thing, i jus use my toes...its a lil dangerous to put ur whole foot over the rope cuz if it slips outta ur hands and for some reason gets ur foot its gonna hurt...

wake_quake,rm_standard, you still need a footin suit though to keep afloat. With a wet suit, you sink too much and a vest has way too much drag.
