|
|
| This was my first summer wakeboarding and I'm addicted. It is all I can think about. But one thing has me bummed. I bought a 1982 Glastron 16.5' w/ 100hp Johnson. Not a good wakeboard boat but all I could afford as a college student ($2400). It makes the smallest wake I've ever seen. My question is do you think it would be worth the money in a fat sac or is this boat hopeless to ever be a good wake machine. If worth it I thought a big sac in back and a little one up front, and maybe a cheap Fly High X-Pole?? I would appreciate anyone's input and suggestions. |

ok to progress in wakeboarding you need a non strech rope, and the rope needs to be anchored pretty high in the boat. but because of your small wake you cant really do much. so i think your best option would be to buy a wakeskate _________________ i love lamp. Crikey |

| No way that boat will work great. You just gotta give it the Jet Ski Treatment. Find a friend and figure out how to put in the back of his Nautique! |

Laugh Damon nailed it. Don't spend money on anything you cant take with you to the next boat. Do a DIY Pylon instead of buying one unless you get a smokin' deal on a used one. You will savea few bucks there and wont care if you dont take it with you. Check the DIY forum here, there a a couple good threads on it. _________________

I ride behind a 1998 mako 171. The wake is horrible. I'm presently collecting lead for ballast and making a DIY pylon. I'll post pics when I'm done. and some before and afters of the wake. Go to your local tire store and ask for some lead, its free and with good padding/placed well will easily weight down the boat safely. Anything with enough power to go 20 is fine, even if it can't pull you up... do a dock start. Like joedirt said, keep everything completely removable.

I learned behind a 17 ft bass boat with a 90hp. Horrible wake but if you are addicted like you say you are your boat should be fine until you can afford a better one. As far as putting weight in it, it can only help. It wont be great but hey at least you have something to ride behind. I dont have a boat right now and its killing me every time I ride by the river and see everyone cutting up all the butter. _________________ "What counts is not necessarily the size of the the dog in the fight. There's a member here who rides behind a glastron and swears by it, however, i can't remember whom.
I will do a search and see what i can find. |
