I just read up on the new "camp" in the hamptons... I can't believe whatn these guys get. First of all there aren't any accomodations so its really not a camp, just a lessons place. But they still manage to get $180 AN HOUR!!! For wakeboarding lessons. I can't believe that, I want to go to a camp for a week or so in the summer but I can't even come close to that. I mean, its great and all, ride behind x-stars and such, but to call yourself a camp and not provide a place to stay??? Especially for that much money. I am looking to spend around 1500-2000 for a week. Anyone have any reasonable suggestions?

Something sorta close. My friend and I are going and he can drive so we are looking somewhere within maybe 4 or 5 hours.

For 1500-2000, I recommed the Boarding School. I realize that isn't close, but for the price of the camp plus airlines or even driving you'd be right where you think you are willing to spend. It's a great experience too.

| ballywho, I bet there is a guy out there with a wake boat within 5 hours of you that would love to take you out behind his boat and coach you for less than 100 bucks an hour. There is like 5 of them on my lake. (All outlaw riders (really good)) Try finding someone, much cheaper, get to hang with some cool wakeboarders and go behind a nice boat for pretty cheap! Good luck! |

it also looked like that camp in the hamptons didn't even have flat water, so you had to pay to play on choppy water? _________________ Live to Ride, ride to live |

Pricing is similar to that in the UK.
I know it sounds kinda silly but the biggest problem with the big fees is not bieng able to chill out. If i pay for an hour then i value every second way too much... i just can't chill... like if i case the wake it stresses me out... same if i bail... then i just bail more! to ride well i have to be super chilled... so when i'm paying that much i just can't get anything down and really come away with very little from the sessions.... is that the same for anyone else? _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |

ballywho Are you honestly shocked at this with the Hamptons being what it is? My bet is it's not a good place to learn to wakeboard it a place for the uber rich to learn how to get up and ride behind a boat.
Besides hourly lessons are always much more expensive than a camp type atmosphere, not that this price is reasonable though. _________________

I'm looking at the boarding school. I think if I can find a "responsible adult" (I think just meaning 18 or over) then I'm good. That's alot more reasonable.

I dont want to do many sliders since I son't have any here. I'm liking the wakeboard camp (thanks itch!!! they look awesome) and I just e-mailed them to see if they're free next summer. My problem is getting a responsible adult to come along. I've got a frined who will go and will be 18 by that time so I'm thinking he'll work... right?

| i think 1000 for a camp is pretty resaonable, concidering you are paying for gas, use of a top of the line boat, coaching, accomodations and food. stuff i think i can go through 1000 in food in a week. |

$180 per hour is ridiculous.
I know you don't want to go to Florida, but you can go to the Boarding School and be coached by Shaun Murray and Travis Moye for $375 for an entire day, or $1700 for a whole week. You will ride until you can't move - none of that 20 minutes per set limit - while riding in the boat with super fun guys. You'll stay in a nice house on the lake, eat all the food you want, and wake up to a boat that's already full of gas.
Flights to Orlando are cheap, or your friend could drive.... and they won't discriminate against you for being young. I swear by it. |

I just learned that The Wakeboard Camp will let me in without anyone. That's where I'm thinking of going.

| Why wait for summer, come to South Africa in your winter. Check www.wakesafari.co.za. A lot of US and Europe pro riders come here during their winter. We can even hook you up with a big five safari, Victoria Falls, grade 5 white water rafting and one of the highest bungee jumps in the world. |

Great news, I knew he had ACL surgery. I spoke with him when he came home (NH) for that.
I ride with his brother every weekend now that Jimmy is down there doing the FL thing. Dean has a nice place down there and Jimmy is a great worker, he used to coach for us up here, one smooth rider. _________________ PEACE

Anybody in here ever go to West Coast Camps? I am very close to signing up for next summer. It seems pretty sweet to get to stay on a house boat and ride with guys like Mike Schwenne all week long. _________________ |

The Wakeboard Camp, accomodations are a bit rough, but they have good coaches like Chad Lowe
Shaun and Travis are awesome, good accomodations, adult needed
O town, great accomodations, you train with the likes of Kyle Rattray and Brad Buskis and you don't need an adult. Rusty , Dallas and Danny Thollander also train there (as well as my boys)
Westcoast Camps is great, Mike Schwenne and crew, good accomodations, make sure that you book with riders that are better than you and not a beginner camp. You need to be pushed _________________ For God so loved the world, He gave His only Begotten Son, so that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life! John 3:16 |

The Headless Chicken, possibly...from my experiences it usually takes 2 hours from the Bay to Modesto and 6 from the Bay to LA thats how I came up with the 4 hour time length but whatever. _________________ |
