Hello

I have messed about quite alot with video over the past season. Firstly to make a video more interesting change your camera angles and zoom up a bit more at times. You have a wicked setting that i would die for! i have rain and cloudy most of the time in the uk which makes it really hard to get the light right. Dont know what software you are using but if you want to get the best out of effects and general color enhancement the go for something like adobe premiere. Hard to use but when you gety the hang of it you will be pleased with the results.
Another criticism is that too much standing still doing nothing! Cut in with clips of getting the boat ready, everyone in the boat, slow moyion on the dials in the boat, the prop wash ect ect ect. Just people in a boat having a great time does wonders for the vid.

Hope i have been constructive in my critiscism.

As for your riding its ok but needs tidying a little. Get yourself a copy of higher education and learn some new tricks. Get your cut correct both sides to maximise your pop. It not too much of an adjustment needed. On your heelside your moving about too much coming into the wake. Your butt is almost in the water on the way in but not edging.

Hope i can be of help. Good luck. I will post one of my vids in reply but this site does not support wmv which i use to make the files smaller

First of all I have two words for you. "STAND TALL" You never once did this that I saw. Especially toeside. You have great conditions and a great wake, use them to your advantage. You dont have to edge so hard coming in. Try to make a better progressive edge and more relaxed too. Standing tall will give you more than the needed amount of pop for w2w's, 180s, and grabs.

Ride with style. If it's sketchy, don't throw it in the video.

I'm with ballywho, my input is that you need to stand tall off your wake. You are going w2w because you cut in so hard and fast not because of proper technique. You need to ride up the wake and pop off the top so you get some height.

thanks for the comments so far,
so in order to get a proper progressive edge, i think what i need to do is slow it down, lean back to get my edge, but do not bend my knees so much, which will help me to stand tall off the wake, is that correct?

No, squatting during your cut is OK as long as you're standing tall at the wake. Basicly,
1.cut out
2. begin to edge in (VERY LIGHTLY)
3.build your edge on the way in
4 as you ride up the wake stand tall.

Here's a few tricks I use, first, dont think about progressive edge. Think about loading the line because that is the end goal. Just try to keep the same body position while pulling harder and harder on the line (as they say in waketrix, "think of sitting in a chair. As you edge in, pull harder on the rope but DO NOT get pulled out of the chair")

Second, think of the edge/line loading as a count--> 0(drifting in) 1(light edge) 2(harder as you go up) 3...4...5 (squat down to make your edge harder)...6...7...8(really hard dge but not all the way)...9(stand tall)...10(enjoy your flight.) Laughing

Hope this helps.

Just needs to stand tall on the way in, he is progressive on some of the cuts, dont complicate matters for him. Just stand taller on the way in.
One step at a time.

ballywho

One phrase says dont squat and later it says squat down more for a harder edge???

it never says dont squat. It says,

Maybe that's what you thought?

yeah,
thats the crappy thing about being new, i watch the vids, watch and listen to more seasoned riders, try to change my form but then it seems like something else gets messed up.
but, so far i have realized that for some reason i have a bad habit of bending my knees on hs and ts. i think i am just going to try and cut hs and ts into the wake and stand completely straight the entire time. i will tell my driver if he sees my legs bend to stop the boat. do any of you think that would help me?

Its not that you shouldn't bend your knees, just stand tall at the wake. Not bending at all will keep you from getting proper line tension.
