I am looking to build my own Bimini Top. Over hear in the UK I am getting quotes of around 400 to 500 pounds. I know i can get them cheaper from the states.

UK Post is getting hot on import duty and VAT these days!

I have found a shop that sells the fixings and ally poles.

If you have made one, what size and how did you work out where to position everything?

Regards

Where in the UK?

My wife likes the idea of a bimini top and therefore might release funds to build one - I will try and copy an existing design as it dosnt look too complicated really.

I am down in hertfordshire, just north of London!!

I have decided to give it a go. Found an american on line shop to buy the fixings - could not source them in the UK. Ally tubing cost me £36 for 15 metres, just need to get some suitable material. Sunbrella looks the best one to go for but cant find a source in the UK so going for RIPSTOP material - found it on EBAY.

Will let you know how it went when i get round to building it!!!

Very nice work. I have modified one to fit under my Monster Tower as well. What I had to do was buy one ($250 US) , and construct the new bows on top (because I did not want to damage the ones that came with it, in case I screwed it up, and could return it).
I also machined mounts for the legs to attach to the monster tower rear leg mounts. I should have pics up this weekend. I still need to have the fabric modified a little more.
