I am building a set of wakeboard speakers. They are 18" long each. I will have 2 speakers in each can. 1 in each end. My question is: Do I need to put a partition in each can to separate the air b/w the speakers?
Thanks |

It's almost halloween! Just try to find some spider web to stuff in there, or similar type material. You don't have to separate the speakers with something solid unless you absolutely want too. You won't notice much difference if it's solid or just some foam / cotton. |

Thanks. Cotton would be easy for me to use b/c I manage a cotton gin. |

Go to home depot or lowes and get some expandable foam, and make a partition of sort with it. If you have speakers firing end to end against one another, you will get volumetric cancellation, and they will sound like sh*t. With the very large size of your cans, you will need a couple of cans of the expandable foam to dampen NVH inside the enclosures. |

You could also wire the speakers out of phase, they would work a lot better that way than having both in phase with no partition. Just wire black to red and red to black on ONE speaker in each can. I would still put some polyfill in there. _________________ Silver Skurfer |

Good call on wiring them out of phase, cyclone! That may even help the excursion a little bit to get some more SPL behind the boat. |
