For starters the board is TOO big for me. I think it is a 143. I'm 5'10" 165lbs and am thinking about a 135/7. This is my first "real season" boarding as last year all I did was a few weeks worth. I am goint to buy a "real board" after the season when they are cheap!

What board do I need? My ability is :
hs w2w 180
lip slide
surface 360
rev side slide
bunny hop 180
back scratcher
and a few other basics. I need to work on my grabs and riding swith cause I still cant't ride switch as well as I want. Laughing

My boys say when I jump, I sometimes leave the board down like in the pic. Any ideas what causes this or am I simply not lifting my knees. Kinda hard to judge this one as I am on my way in for landing!

Any critques or hints are appreciated. Oh, this is a Gayliner 175 with no weight, only 3peeps in the boat Laughing Laughing

Word to the wise buy better gloves. It will help your wakeboarding a ton I promise. As for board size its all personal preference. Shapiro is like 5 ft nothing and rides like a 141 I believe.

Your pic is the result of riding back foot heavy, the next time out try this: when you cut out and relax before you start your prgogressive edge think about really bending your front knee and putting more weight up front. Hold this set up as you approach and ride up the wake.

Also if your next board has a three stage rocker you will not maximize your pop if you ride back foot heavy.

good luck

Well its very difficult to tell from still photos. First off lose the gloves! Cool wakeboarding and gloves dont go, in the uk that is which brings me onto my second point. get yourself a soft grip handle and a good non stretch rope. Get your boat driver to drive in a straight line as possible. Get whoever is driving to keep looking back at the prop wash line in the centre of the wakes to make sure it is straight.
Your stance looks extremely narrow. widen your stance.
As for board im a bit taller taller but the same weight. i ride a 135 absolute platinum. i have tried bigger board but they all felt to slow especially on spins. It can be just personal preference and your riding style.

Your boat seems to produce quite a nice wake for no weight.

Good luck with whatever you do and choose to get but all of the above will help greatly improve your riding very quickly. In wakeboarding forget good package deals and bargains on intermediate boards its a waste of time and will justy hold your ability back. I teach at two clubs on a small scale and Time and time again im asked for advice and many seem to come back with something else with a great bargain deal. Rolling Eyes Good boards are hardly ever bargains.

Also, you have slack in the line on a regular w2w jump. i would work on your progressive edge. build you edge slow and stay on edge through the wake. once you get that down things will fall in place a little easier.

it could be cold, which quickly fatigues the hands. Or he hasn't built up much strength in the forearms, or he just feels comfortable using them.. to each their own. I for one haven't ever tried using gloves, so I don't know.
