I have searched the site for a list of tricks that are a natural progression for new boarders and havn't found anything. My friends and I started wakeboarding this summer and we are limited to a certain extent due to the gear and boat, but we thought our trick progression seemed strange. Basically we started with getting up, staying up Very Happy ,crossing the wake, one wake jumps, one wake jumps with grabs Question , wake to wake, wake to wake with grabs (barely)... so far these are all HS with a couple of us almost W2W TS, I should probably state the fact that we are learning using a HL Perez directional from 199?. So the other day it is glass on our lake with nobody out so I start trying to do surface 180's, get those and go right to surface 360's and get a couple down before my arms cramp from trying to pass the handle. Now I'm thinking I probably missed a whole progression that may hurt my ability in the future. Any comments?
Sorry for the long post Shocked

That progression seems good. I did surface tricks before i could jump the wake. but i dont seee how it will effect your future riding just learn riding switch.

Thanks, it's good to know it's not too jacked up. We have been riding switch a little, actually forced to with a surface 180, but the board is directional so it either dumps us catching an edge, or tries to force itself around the correct way. I am purchasing a new board in a couple weeks cause it's seasons end here, and so that should take care of the difficult switch ride, working on trying to find a board to give us more pop, this perez doesn't have much of a rocker to it. We figured W2W 180's etc should be next on the list...
Thanks again.

Surface tricks are stupid anyways. Forget about surface 3s and work on your ollies, ollie 180s, and progression with w2w. Your progression seems right on. Just don't neglect your toeside and switch or it will haunt you later.

Your progression looks alot like mine. I'm now putting most of my efforts into my toeside jumps cause right now I suck at them. The crashes & faceplants hurt but I'm getting better. Getting as comfortable toeside as you are heelside will help you progress sooo much more...that's what others have told me

As long as you dont forget to switch and toeside, you're doing fine.
