i care. and im sure others here care as well.

canadian teams winning. sure. ottawa, sorry leafs fans, is your best bet[imo] this year, as long as hasek doesnt suck ass this year. Jason Spezza is going to be ridiculous this year. thus prompting me to draft him high in my fantasy draft.

oh and kovalchuk may play in russia instead!! think of the impact that will have on atlanta. what a bummer.

...and will an american team ever fill more than 5% of it's roster with american players!? Laughing

I'm afraid the Leafs are getting old. And they're pulling the same crap as always, making "Great New Additions" which actually consist of marginally good players. Just enough to make you buy your tickets. Well guess what... for the first time every this year I gave up my share of seasons tickets, told my uncle he can have first dibs on em.

Junkee,

Wasnt Kovalchuk on the Hawks?

Hasek is a great goalie.

Who is the guy from Vancouver that is being charged with assault for cross checking that guy in the head?

I was sad to see Messier retire. I never got sick of watching him.

Ottawa will not even make the semi's IMO.

Is Carney still on the Coyotes? I cried when we traded him. He is a solid d man.

How bout that removal of the redline?

I care....and am happy to see them back on the ice. Currently deciding if I am going to get the Direct TV NHL Center Ice package.

On the flip side, the Avalanche have taken some terrible hits and don't look great. How is that for putting it lightly..... Rolling Eyes

Junkee,

I really dont follow pro hockey much. Can you tell? We had some Kova something here the other year that didnt do a thing. He was supposed to be all this and some of that and nothing happened. After our big trade or acquisition with Theo Fluery I wiped my A$$ with my hawks sweater and stopped paying attention. But my love is the game. I have played hockey longer than anything else. In fact, I can't remember never playing.

Ever since Bethman took over, my interest dropped off. How can two original six teams play each other once a year. Once!

We played Montreal once a few yrs in a row.

Alright, being that I typically follow 2 teams (stars and ducks), will someone give me an outlook on the Stars? I know the Stars' roster is pretty good, but do you think Playoff good?

The Stars are relatively weak on defence and they're not very deep up front once you get past their first couple of lines. They're also going to be moving a number of inexperienced players into the lineup. On the plus side they're still set in goal with Turco.

In the end it's going to be a battle for them just to grab a playoff spot with 2003-04 non-playoffs teams such as LA, Anaheim, Phoenix, and Edmonton all improving in the off season.

Front runners in the west will be
Vancouver
Calgary
San Jose

In the East
Philly
Ottawa
TB

Those are my picks before the season starts. I think there's a 50/50 chance a canuck team will take it.

I like the 50/50 thing. Of course it's 50/50. It will either be American or Canadian. There are no other options.

I think the Cubs have the best chance.

I wouldn't say 50/50 at all if you look at it like that.

What are there 24 U.S. teams and 6 cdn teams. That doesn't sound like 50/50 to me.

I'm saying 50/50 because there are 3 good U.S teams and 3 good Cdn teams that have a legit shot.

Bambamski,

I know. I am just messin,

I think everything will be different this year. No redline no trap, should be fun to see who will or will not adjust.

I think teams that were not competitive in the previous seasons, might do very well with the new rules.

Vancouver still has too many goaltending issues with Cloutier IMO and they've haven't done much to improve since 2003-04.

The Leafs, HA!

I played last night. We adopted the no redline rule in our pick up game. Before we would kinda honor the 2 line pass to prevent cherry picking. I have to say, it is so much more fun and tiring.

It really changes the game and strategy. It was fun to push the d past the redline to their blue and break up that trap.

This is will be much better for the NHL this year.

Do you guys still have Anderchuck? LOL

NO SH1t right. If we don't, the goalies will not show up. So we have to pretend at least.

I just bought the new Bauer 8090's. OMG, great skates. I highly recommend them.

sh1t, we have this goalie that gets so pissed if we dont back check, he actual stopped playing and stood next to the net in protest a few weeks ago, so last night I made sure to be on the opposing team. All I did was shoot pucks at his head all night. 5 minutes left, ding right in the mask. What a great feeling.

Have you seen those 209 dollar Easton sticks? WTF is that all about

I HATE GOALIES!
