I just got a inland surfer blue lake board and have been trying out surfing behind my '00 23v Tige.

I have tried filling one 600# side of the ballast up (right side for goofy footed) and I have tried filling both sides with 600# each. The wake seemed bigger and better with both sides filled.

I have tried going from 10mph up to 14mph. 14 was just too fast and at 10 the wake was all wash. I have been setting it at 11.3mph and there is still alot of wash and where the wake makes its V is Huge but its also firing water over onto my board.

I will try to get some pictures Friday of what I'm talking about.
I see pictures of peoples wakesurf wake and its this waist high perfect wall beside them. Mine is waist high but its no smooth wake.

for my boat, it's a DD i run 300# front 500# rear and 300# on the surf side plus like 4-5 people on the surf side and right at about 9.5-10mph the wave is perfect, but every boat is gonna be different, it took me about 6 times or so but i figured it all out with speed, weighted and no rope, just keep practicing and you will figure it out

take the weight out of the left side to clean up the wake. it may not seem as big but it will be clean.

The surf wake is real big but real messy at the top when just the one side full. With both sides full it is even bigger and about the same messiness. Maybe tonight I will try not having any of hte ballast full, maybe that is the key.

probably need more weight up front. you need need a big wake to surf especially with the board you have. ive ridden some like ankle high really washy wakes and could still drop the handle.

I went out again last night. With no ballast full the wake is almost waist high. The problem is that its horrible on the goofy side and freaking perfect on the regular side. All of the spray all goes to the goofy side.

When you fill up the goofy side of the ballast it gets even bigger but there is even more spray! If you fill up just hte regular side you have higher than your waist spectacular surf. I ride goofy though.

The only thing that I have found to work so far is to leave the ballast full on the goofy side and have the driver do a pretty hard right turn continuously. This makes the goofyt wake a little cleaner and I can pitch the rope in the boat and surf around.

How can I clean up the goofy side when the boat was made to produce a clean regular side?

We cleaned up the goofy side by putting all the extra weight and people on that side, then turning just slightly to the left.

blairpoelman, did you mean LSV? The VLX is a 21' boat...

I set the PP to 10.5 usually.

Interesting, I've never head of a 23' VLX, I know that it rides on a SV23 hull, but didn't know that it came in a 23ft model...

Learn something new every day eh?

no....the 04' 23' is the LSV. The 04' VLX was 21' and is now called the V-Ride, the new VLX is 21'6" with a 98" Beam which looks like a smaller LSV. Rolling Eyes

If that is the boat in question in your profile pic., you are riding behind a 23 LSV...you can tell by the shape of the bow.

is that why everything on the registration, purchase order / invoice, warranty, etc.. says VLX?

blairpoelman, If you infact DO have a 23 foot "VLX" then you have the ONLY one in existence....there is no such thing.

K-dub, we had to order it from the factory through Crofts in SLC to get it with the 8100 and no logos or decals. Paperwork may have a model mixup, but every single thing in the boat, warranty papers, etc... says VLX. Honestly, I don't care if it's VLX or LSV. The difference, IMO, is insignificant.

it should be significant. If and when you try to resell that VLX, you might have some issues with the buyer needing to register the boat in thier name, as well as, if you try to transfer the warranty the Hull ID numbers are going to specify an LSV while your paperwork is going to say VLX. It won't jive. You might want to get hold of the person that did your paperwork at that dealership, and hve them correct it for you. Hell, your insurance rates might change as well.... Rolling Eyes

Just FYI, K-dub= Malibu Dealership. Regardless of what your warranty papers and "every single thing in the boat." say it's still a 23' Malibu riding on a V25 hull. That makes it a LSV.

DRAGON88, K-dub, I'm not arguing with either of you. All I'm saying is that my paperwork says VLX - and K-dub, from your credentials, you would know better than me what it really is.

Thanks for the info - probably a good idea to get this checked out.

blairpoelman, not arguing here either...just trying to lend a hand is all. I would look into it with your dealer if I was you...less headache in the long run.

I have a 2004 Launch Gravity Games. I fill the right side sac and have 200 lbs of steel under the sacs. 600 lbd sac in the middle with 4 50 lb steel plates under it. About 6 people in the boat and 4-5 on the right side and the wake is awsome. P.P. set at 10.3--10.5, i will get pics and post for you guys. Shocked
