Yeah I've got a YFZ 450, a banshee, and a CR250. I dunno if I'm the 'Wallrat' in question since although I believe I've joined both planetsand and glamisdunes, I rarely if ever post there. Mostly I'm on bansheehq if anything.

Well right now I gotta get the tubes bent. I was hoping to rent or buy one but nobody rents em around here and the cheapest they go for is $800 with one die. So I gotta pay about $200 on Monday to get everything bent, then weld it all up and send it out to get powdercoated. After that I'm gonna work on racks and a fiberglass speaker enclosure for the tower.

Now that you mention it I recognized the name...your the guy in the LT thread.

Which part? The individual pieces, whole towers, or racks and speaker enclosures? Regardless I'm not ready to sell anything just yet. I'm just trying to make a tower for myself at this point, afterwhich my buddy wants me to make one for him. I'd have to see how the final product turns out before I thought of charging anyone for it. After that it really comes down to cost and time.

i would for sure be interested in the tower mounts? I have been toying with the idea of fabricating them myself, or maybe at least building all the mounts for them.

Here's an update: Figures that the one that had to break did so on the last bend. That piece is being rebent and should be ready to go this week. I need to pick up some 1/4" aluminum plate for the bases before anything. Hopefully next weekend I'll be fitting everything up on the boat. Shouldn't take me more than a week after that to be done.

Couldn't tell ya as Santa Fe bending did it. If you're looking for a good bender they're some of the best/cheapest in the biz. My company has been using them for years.

Got all the metal in from the benders, welded the feet into the lower hoops. Stuck everything together via duct tape to see how it would look. That rear hoop is gonna have a few inches taken off so that the top of the tower is parallel to the boat rails. I'm making the mounts for the boat now so hopefully I'll get to stick something onto the boat tonight.

Might not look much different but the upper portion is now actually bolted/welded to the lower portion instead of just being duct taped. Unfortunately work has been keeping me busy so I've only been able to get an hour/day in if I'm lucky.

I won't be turning out extra parts anytime soon. Tower's almost done but I've still got board racks, speaker enclosures, etc. to make and then a whole 'nother tower for my buddy. I used 2" OD x .125" wall 6063 tubing. Most I had at my work so I only needed to buy one 20 foot piece. I got it from Santa Fe Bending - number and address listed above.

Stupid me forgot the camera tonight but I got the tower mounted onto the boat via duct tape. Tacked all 4 corners down, chopped the uppers to the right length, and got a pretty good idea of how this thing is gonna look. I decided to keep the rear hoop a little long and not have the top of the tower parallel to the boat rails. I started thinking about how a boat goes nose up when you pull a rider out. Seemed like a good idea to keep a little angle forward. Its tall enough that I can just barely reach the towpoint and I'm 6' tall. Tomorrow night I'll be notching the tubing for the braces on the uppers and tacking those in as well as make a few braces for the feet. Hopefully I'll get far enough along to pull the whole thing back off and finish welding everything. After that I just gotta mount the tow point and its ready for testing this Sunday. Very Happy

about 8 feet, it looks kinda small in that pic for some reason. Here's another angle, I hope everyone enjoys my pimped out gold interior:

Well its basically done. A few minor tweaks but its 100% useable - I'd be testing it out today but don't have a 3rd. Now I just have to test it out and make sure everything's solid, then I get to scotch-brite the hell out of it and its off to the powdercoater's. Turned into alot bigger project than I thought it would be, but it does look nice. Hopefully it works as good as it looks. BTW I'm in for $300 at this point. Oh yeah and I know the boat ain't much to look at. I bought it for a project for $3500 a few months ago, you're just seeing it at its (very) early stages.

-All the orange & grey exterior vinyl is coming off, dark blue & black going on instead.
-Interior is being completely torn out. Changing the layout to wraparound seating with a captain's chair. Going grey with navy blue accents. Also provisions for a subwoofer and making a sundeck that can convert to a couple extra seats.
-Installing ballast. Already have a couple sacs, now I just gotta wire/plumb the pumps I got so I don't have to throw a pump over the side.
-Fiberglass swim platform
-New bimini
-New dash/gauge cluster
-fiberglass tower enclosure for speakers and lights (single unit)
-board racks for the tower
-new ski locker door (old teak one looks like crap)

Nice choice with the old Sea Ray. Those things hold their value great. Even better after you do all those improvements.
