I am thinking of getting a Burton Custom X for this coming season.

I need a high end all mountain board which can handle backcountry, bumps, carving, pipe, park, and surface tricks. The board I get will also be ridden a great deal switch.

Do people here think the Custom X will be a good choice?

I think the basic custom will be a better choice. Everyone I know that has gotten a top shelf board from Burton has had problems with it. The reduction in weight with the dragonfly cores or the like also reduce the boards integrity.

The Custom is a proven board through and through, but get it with the Super Fly II core. You'll save money up front and in the long run as you won't have to worry so much about blown rails, delams etc.

There's a reason the Super-Fly II core has been around for 10 years.

I agree with everything jryoung said.

IMO the custom is just as good as a custom X and there is no need to fork over the extra cash for the X...you won't really see a differnce in the ride.

But the custom X and custom would both be good for what you want it to do...

If you are stuck on burton then def go with one of those if you want an everything board.

I rode the 06 custom X for fews days last year. I can tell you it's very solid on carving. For an all arround board, it's a good one. Too stiff for rail, but still work. I like softer board, but I only ride the park.
