How do you get a barge back in the water or those tug/fishing boats without causing stress fractures to the boat?

Can't even imagine.

You know what they say..... Water cleanses the sole....

I'm sure anyone close to this situation will now be much more grateful for what they have gained from this life and not what they have/had in their driveway or house.... Tragedy brings out the best and worst in people, I see lots of families taking a much needed assessment and realizing they have everything they need and can live on with out too much grief. The others will just file false insurance claims and try to take advantage of the situation.

Mother nature is just giving us a taste of what will eventually happen in one form or another on a global scale.
Our existence on this earth is comparable to a spec of dust when compared to this worlds entire life span.

Yes, I believe in DOOM and GLOOM......

All of the pics are unbelievable Sad ..... I've never seen anything like it - 80% of NO is under water - I'm taking some supplies to our church this afternoon where we have set up shelter for some of the residents - we are feeling this at the pump - but it is just the beginning of the pinch we are all about to feel from the destruction

Of course we sent billions for the tsunami ordeal - I doubt we'll see a penny of foreign aid

I think W is on the phone with those countries right now as Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and India fall 142, 149, 154 in world rankings in terms of GDP respectively. Rolling Eyes

Hey guys, thanks for your concern. We made it through OK and are back home now. Luckily, the city I live in was not hit as hard and power has already been restored to my house. We were lucky.

Thats from ws.com.

Where is all of that water going to go? I also heard the water levels are still rising.

Another thing... what about all of that flood water from where it went north.. is all of that going to flow down the Mississippi and flood NO even more??

We have been really lucky here in Central Florida.. Knock on wood.

Here are some pictures my friend just sent me. It's a picture of their church that I saw them get married in on the sixth of this month. This was in Pass Christian, MS right by Long Beach.

i dont think they can. It will probably be cut up and moved onto barges by a crane

and that pic of a rig up against a bridge is from about 3 miles east of where me and Doughboy live - Amelia, LA. A tug was holding it and the moorings broke loose, slamming it into the rail bridge.

Im in Ft Lauderdale right now and caught Katrina when she was here last Thursday. Then had to watch it destroy my state! My truck is probably sitting in water right now. Its parked across the street from the New Orleans Airport.

With Regards to the TSUNAMI, River Freak, Chavez and Foreign Aid.

Your governement pledged $977 Million Dollars.
While you are still on your High Horse, Australia pledged more money ($1322M USD) for a country that has no where near the size of the economy. As a percentage of your GNP you fell well behind many other countries such as Ireland, Australia, Netherlands Hong Kong etc.. the list goes on.

NGO and Public Donations were $1011 Million USD, which I agree is Very Generous.

Source - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donations_for_victims_of_the_2004_Indian_Ocean_earthquake#List_of_major_donors.

My first point is, shouldnt your generosity be measured as a percentage of your GNP rather than a base quantity.

My second point is do you really need foreign aid in this case? If you did, and asked for it, im sure that you would receive as much aid as people could provide.

But a rig did strike a bridge in Amelia, LA

i can't believe that two polar opposite things came from the same person...props for helping man, but then you come out with some ignorant dumb ass comment straight after...

i'd reckon the USA, with one of the strongest, if not the strongest economy in the world and also being a developed, modern nation can deal with a disaster of this scale a hell of a lot better than say, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand and the countries effected by the tsunami, which if you hadn't noticed are third world countries, not your typical superpowers.

south, look at that source. It's all government funds. We here in America give our own money, not the governments. If you look up the list of private contributions the US gives FAR more of it's GNP than anyone else. If a company or individual is compelled to give money they will, and did, generously. Rather than force the citizens to give aid by taxing them to pay for the government mandated aid. Don't undermine our generosity.

Wakebrad no one did undermine your peoples generosity.

But by someone saying that a third world country should donate money to a powerful nation while they are trying to rebuild there own country is ludacris and quite stupid.

Do you have a source to back that up or is it simply opinion?
