Thanks for all the ideas I've gotten from reading this site. I finally got to the point where I needed some place to put my fat sac and I didn't want to loose the seating.

For those deciding whether or not to attempt such a project, I had no experience with any wood work, carpeting, or vinyl. The vinyl isn't the best job ever but I don't have access to a sewing machine or much $$$ to shell out. Total cost was ~$150 for the wood, vinyl, carpet and misc.

I haven't been out there yet but I've heard there are some nice spots around there if you know where you're going. I mostly go early morning/ late evening to taylor lake as far north as you can go. Crowds aren't too bad till ~noon when the tubers arrive.

We ride clear creek sometimes mostly in the spring/ fall. The only problem is that you almost have to blow through the "no wake bouys" to get a good run in, every once in a while there is an off duty police officer handing out tickets.

Mostly we just go to the Trinity or San Bernard

Check out www.gulfcoastwakeboarding.com for the local scene/ events.

I got the carpet at a local boat shop for ~$20 and the vinyl was through www.rochfordsupply.com and cost $28 for 3 yards.

Sundecks are great... When I re-did my boat's interior, I changed the old engine compartment/2 jump seats and the two back-to-back seats to a big sundeck with wrap-around seating, and a captain's chair.

A couple weeks ago on the river, it became a dance-stage w/a good view... Crazy Eyes

Worth all the work!

Marine treated wood?

You gunna also build some seating in front of it like 85sn2001 did?

Looks nice!! I will start the same project this winter on my 89' PS190.

looks good, but was it really neccessary to use 2x6s? I've peeked under a couple of rear seat/sundeck things and found 2x2s in some. I think we're gonna start on one this winter and hadn't planned on using anything bigger than 2x4s, and then only in a couple of key places

southshoresledder - I have a 1990 Prostar 190 unfortunately with a closed bow so I'm not sure about that seat...

tmbrown- Very nice!

gvb- I used marine treated wood from lowes. I ride in brackish water and wash down my boat after every use and it seems to be holding up just fine.

DrJ- Probably not necessary to use the 2x6's. I only used those for the upright supports, the top/bottom frames are 2x4. I knew a ton of people would be walking all over the seat climbing in/out of the boat so I figured the little extra $$$ didn't make much of a difference.

I've seen 100gallon aquarium stands made with less wood. I'd go with 2x4s, maybe use 4 verticle supports across the front and rear? Best test is to build it, stand on it, jump on it, get a few friends to stand on it, have them jump on it. if it wobbles or breaks, you need more wood!
