just picked up some 1.5 inch fins before i finish up my season and see if i can pull some surface tricks at normal speed...

but im thinking of getting an 06 substance 138 (i thought i saw it somewhere for $339) with some 05 LF alphas for 169 at buywake.

the alphas i just checked out at overtons and where soooo much better in person i am definatley gonna get some...

and im really wanting a new rope and handle. which is probably what i need most. hopefully you can give me some info on this handle and line

Straight Line Amoeba Bantam Handle http://www.buywake.com/catalog/detail.lasso?cat=5&man=Straightline&sku=ST_99cUN

and this Straight Line Viper series in blue/silver/yellow http://www.wakeside.com/page/W/PROD/straight_line_wakeboard_lines/straight_line_viper_line

im hoping that i can use this stuff for quite a few years and should help me progress faster and easier.

If you want to save some money on the board you could just get an 04 or 05 Substance. As ar as I know they are the same as the 06 only the graphics have changed. Evogear.com has some 04's cheap.

yea, ur right....

i really only have enough money for the Handle and Rope, which is my top priority.

and money for the bindings, my second priority because my blindside ones i do not like much. especially after seeing the alphas.

ill probably wait on the 06 board til it goes on sale next year because the one i have now should be fine for another year. besides, the 06 substance would probably be in the mid to upper 200$ and i really like the graphics and i dont mined spending a little extra for what i want

thanks for your advice madtekniques

Blindside_137, if you want to save a couple of bucks, i haven't heard many good things about those carbon handles. (if they hit your board the paint on the handles chip, and if you get hit with them they hurt pretty bad.) if you want the stiffness, maybe go with the murray from accurate.

is this rope a no-stretch rope that is top quality? because i have been using a ski rope before and want to be sure to get a real wake rope

and also, does the handle really chip off paint if it hits the board? i imagine it would chip if it hits anything but im asking does it deteriorate quickly?

thanks

Blindside_137, check out this line. It's a good non-stretch jacketed line. I ordered one last week and it got here in less than 24 hours! Search for spectra core and it'll come up with a list of his auctions :

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7177956770

Or you could look for the handle and rope together with something like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2005-SPECTRA-2X-CORE-WAKEBOARD-SKI-ROPE-EVA-HANDLE_W0QQitemZ7177340321QQcategoryZ74048QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I've heard good things about that handle.

Blindside_137, haha nice. Well if they're paying for it then who cares.. I'd get a spectra core with jacket line and an eva handle.

If you're paying for it tell them it's your Bubb Rubbing money and you'll spend it where you want Laughing

Blindside_137, I've got some friends who have that rope. It's a great rope.

I, personally don't like the carbon fiber handles. They're expensive and break much easier. But they are light...

Blindside_137, I really like the josh sanders handel. The grip hurts a bit at first but once you break it in its great. I also really like the SL handel its nice and wide in your hands.

Wakebrad, Do you know if that guy makes them any shorter? for wakeskate i need 65 for my boat. I'm interested in the lines and handels, i guess i got tie a loop.

Wakebrad, I gotta agree with you on the bullet lines, I love my handle and rope.....I got them together for 70 bucks off Ebay and the handle grip is so freaking soft that I haven't had any new caluses since I got it.

Bernstein, ski ropes stretch like hell........I can barely go wake to wake with a ski rope, but I can throw back rolls and make it way out into the flats with some pretty stylish grabs using a non-stretch wakeboard rope.

I would even say that a good rope will make more of a difference than a good board

nickdakoolkat, ive been using an accurate ski rope (ill try and find it on google later)

could that be why i can barely get 2 feet of air and go half W2W? will this help me go w2w?

Blindside_137, definately.....Its harder to lock into your progressive edge with a ski rope and it loses slack like hell when you pop off the wake making it way harder, where as with a non-stretch it only loses a tiny bit of slack.

To help give you an idea about getting good pop its kind of like shooting a sling shot, the further you pull back the sling the farther the rock will go. Wakeboarding is the same concept, the harder you edge (the further you lean back, or pull the rope away from the boat) the more pop you will get. So if you have a non-stretch rope "loading up the line tension" is a peice of cake in comparison to a stretchy ski rope.

I'm not saying this is the only reason why your not getting big air (you may not be loading and releasing properly) but back in the day thats all they had were ski ropes and guys were still tearing it up, but a good wakeboard rope makes things sooooo much easier.

To make a long story short its worth the money. Oh yeah, there are a ton of other posts about this same subject so try using the search tool.

One more quick note, the tangle free ropes are so freaking sweet that used to be a annoying problem we would have to deal with but not anymore.

If you buy from bullet lines, they are very secure and they ship very quickly. They are basically like a store but on Ebay.

If your talking about the bullet lines (and most other wakeboard lines) they come in sections so you can shorten them or add rope to them for your own preference. It would be a pain to try and tie those ropes.

well i just got about it an hour ago. it had a couple marks and stuff on it so i asked if i could switch the bantam with a vortex (just came yesterday afternoon so practically new) but they said the combo cant be separated so i was like whatever. they also had an 04 substance on show and it looked so cool to actually touch my most favorite board. cant wait for next season

most of the marks came off tho so im happy and cant wait to try it out saturday.
