|
|
Hey,
I started wakeboarding 2 years ago on a crap board i bought at sport authority and it worked fine for learning to turn etc, and then last summer i bought CWB Mobe bindings and that fixed the biggest problem - the crappy bindings. THen i cut the fins down on a bandsaw and i liked it way better with the looser feel. Now i'm planning to buy a real wakeboard and i've read a lot about the snowboard feel - i.e. small fins and stuff, so I'm wondering if any of you snowboarders have found the board/fin combination that feels most like snowboarding? I kinda want it to be loose when i'm riding flat and then it edges well - i tried finless on my board and it was just a little too squirrely cuz the bottom has no shape other than its rocker and i could carve but if i tried to head straight it was like standing on a spinning disc. So i'm thinking i need a board with some bottom shape and maybe no fins? or small fins? - any suggestions on brand/model of board or fins to try first on a featureless continous rocker board? |

From what I've heard the liquid force Fusion (which they discontinued this year) is the closest you can come to a snowboard feel. You could probably find last years model for dirt cheap though. Actually, they have an '01 model for $210 on this website:

I don't know if continuous rocker is going to make it feel more like a snowboard but I think the feel you're looking for is something with very small molded fins and sharp edges. You might check out that new val halla board with the crook fins also. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Boards that are good finless:
CWB Absolute
Gator Gonzalez or Caddy
HL Premier or ERA _________________

some looser boards to look at: i have the obrien player with molded fins and the liquid force subjekt, cupped outer fins, and both of those boards are loose enough to butter around while free riding and the lock in for a carve into the wake really well. oh yeah the player 138 is for sale so if your interested PM me. |

the byerly is a good finless board (because it has 4 fairly small molded in fins). and the liquid force Sphynx binding is a great combo with that board. when it comes to snowboarding, i know what im talking about, and i really like to have the same feeling for both sports, and that setup works great for the double influenced riding |

they don't float so i'd be a little careful with that one, but you can definately get a snowboard to plane on water - although its tough to do

from what I have read and seen the new HL Roam looks to be the closest you can get to a snowboard on the water |

I live on a lake and have been wakeboarding for awhile and I was wondering how about the other way around which snowboards have a good wakeboard feel to them, I saw CEZZA's post about how the premier has a good feel, and was wondering cause I also ride that same board premier w/ the murray bindings. I was wodering which snowboard has a wakeboard feel or a "permier" feel to it? |
