I'm not that new to wakeboarding, but just decided to buy my own board since I'm taking a wakeboarding class for school (yes, my university has a wakeboarding class at Texas Ski Ranch, how cool is that?).

I bought an '05 O'Brien Diesel 137 board on eBay for $150 shipped, now I just need bindings. I've got it narrowed down to two choices, I believe.

'04 O'Brien Focus

'05 Liquid Force Metro

I'm leaning towards the Liquid Forces since they match my board better, but I'd rather ask people that actually have experience with either of the bindings.

Here is my board:

Thanks in advance. Hopefully I'll actually become a decent wakeboarder over the next few months. Smile

(I'm not sure whether this should be in the General or Newbie forum, so I just threw it here. If it needs to be moved, I apologize. And yes, I already did a search.)

If i were you, I would demo some bindings. Comfort is much better than looks. Its all about preference, i would go to TSR and try some there and see what you want then buy them.

I'd normally agree with that, but the only bindings they had their that fit me were Krux. And even at 40% off, they were still ~$180. I don't really want to spend that much when I can get bindings for $80-90 online.

its almost worth putting the extra money in to buying better pair bindings that will last longer/feel more comfty when you ride.

thats just my opinion.

Yea, after talkin' with a few helpful people from this site, I went ahead and bought the Focuses (Focii?).

I figure they'll definitely be a good beginner binding and it's not hard to pick somethin' better up later.

I have some 2005 LF Element bindings up for sale $114.99 in the classifieds http://forums.wakeboarder.com/viewtopic.php?t=44814. Price is negotiable and they would look sweet on your board. I bought them for my 2004 LF Fusion 139 (red and black) but they're the wrong size. E-mail me if you're interested.

Dude, spend the extra money now...

Two years ago I bought some doubleup Hi wraps for 100 bucks. Used them for the rest of the season and got disgusted with them because they were so hard to get in and out of with my size 13s. That and they hurt like hell.

Last year I bought some Exit 13s for ~130 and thought they would be nice and comfy and all my problems would go away. Even with the lace up back, getting into them is awful. Getting out is even worse. Its actually less painful to faceplant on purpose than it is to tear these things off slowly. Atleast once theyre on, theyre comfortable.

Now ive finally had it. Im just going to spend the cash on a bitchin set of bindings. My brother just bought some alphas that he loves, so Im thinking ill just drop the ducats on the transits and hopefully never have to buy new bindings ever again!

Moral of the story is to buy good bindings, otherwise youll be buying bindings two or three times. You can find some 2005 LF alphas for 170 or so, but I wouldnt even look at anything cheaper if i were to do it all again.
