Well we were out yesterday, good water moderate traffic, wakeboard boats everywhere........
But everynow and then we would idle past a wakeboard boat, or vice versa. And about half of the people give you that look, you know "I am a bad MuthaF***a and you aren't even worth a second glance." And not to hate on nice boats, but that's what they are always in.
What's up with being a cocky prick????? I mean everynow and then when it's too choppy to board, boats raft up, and everynow and then when I pull up they just sit there and glare at you. I mean I thought cause of what we do people in the sport would be more friendly to each other. I dunno, maybe I am still just buzzin from last night, but I can't figure out jerks. I guess I just like tryin to be friends with everyone.
porkchop'em......haters.
And this pointless vent was brought to you by Haugy Inc. Anything that may be construed as pointless and stupid, probably is. |

But i've also met some people in crappy boats asking if they want a ride and they just flip on me...like im trying to act all big and bad towards them when really i just wanna hook some people up with a pull i dunno. People just need to get over themselves...haha _________________ www.Shadrack.com

I think that 20% of people in those >50k boats can ride, and the ones that cant they just like to act cool, as in my opinion, wakeboarding apears as one of the most elitlist and "cool" sports right now..... _________________ Life's short, Go wakeboarding. |

Well I know that when we go out on the water, we always wave and shoot the breeze with whoever comes up. But I definitely know what you mean.. some guys are real asshats, just because they have a sweet boat doesn't make them cool guys. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/galen96 |

where i board there is almost nobody there during the week because 70% of the people have place someplace else and just spend a couple days on the weekend for a vacation.
but there arnt many wakeboats around my lake, just loads of chapparals (the marina sells them) and everybody is friendly, always waving....most the people anyway _________________ Wake Forest University |

Here we go again, back to riding level and cost of boats.
If someone earns the money to spend on a very expensive wakeboard boat, then so do it, whether they tube all the time, give cocky glares, or don't ride very well. It's their boat that they spent their money on, don't they have a right to do whatever? Now, I'm against it also, I hate pricks that are cocky and whatever, but instead of complaining, do what Tyler~Moore said and go try to talk to them. If they are nice, great, and If not, so be It lets all move on...Ok, Off my soap-box sorry. _________________ www.Tigeowners.com

DavidHoff, you took it the wrong way man. I am not just talking about people with nice boats, I have seen some old ones like mine, and they still are just kinda pricks on the water. This is not a money issue. It just happens to be a lot of the jerks I mention are in really expensive boats. I have also met some of the coolest people on 50k boats too.
And I have tried to talk to them. Like I said there is a place where we all raft up, but everynow and then I raft up with a total jerk off.
Had to vent. I will stop my panty waist moaning now. Besides, my passengers just arrived. See yall at the water. |

| Kill em with kindness. They glare at you because you are probably glaring at them wondering why they are pricks. Just roll and and chill, offer a beer tell a funny joke, talk $#!T on the jetskiers and bam you are part of the bad ass club. Hooray. Or just whoop their @$$ at riding and make them respect you. My buddy works at a wakeboard camp and lives at the lake for 3 months. They have people get pissed at them and say "you're ruining OUR water" so they calmly switch riders and throw a 720 or some mobe in front of them to get them to shut up. Works everytime. |

Thanks for making the water ways safe by acting like a prick. I salute you captain "I am the supreme judge of all that is cool and not." It's their money if they want to pull tubes around all day so be it. Who cares? Quit acting like an immature jerk to every "wakeboarding boat" that isn't pulling a "wakeboarder." People like you have forgotten the one reason why we're all out on the lake in the first place. Having fun. If they have fun riding around in tubes with neon pink helmets looking like the biggest kooks around, why is it any of your concern?
As far as the cocky jerks, every lake has em. I think it's sad that people feel so competitive or even defensive about what they're riding behind. There are kids on my lake riding behind an old I/O with stretchy line, all they ever do is glare at me. I wave and get nothing but a glare back. I have stopped caring about the tools, if they want to be "badasses" and treat me with no respect then forget it. I always wave to other boats wakeboarders or not. I'd definitely hook anyone on my lake up with a pull and even some pointers if they wanted, so long as they are respectful of me and my family. The same people who always glare at me's dad hit our boat coming in for gas (we were already docked and filling), Well out of their way, come in and rub the side of their boat all along the nose of ours, putting a nice mark on our 3 month old boat. Did he even apologise? Nope, he actually had the balls to glare at us. (My dad and I) IMO ignorance is universal, wakeboard boats or not, people are just straight up tools. Sorry but that's just how it is. _________________ wakeboards

| I can't believe some of what I'm reading. Do all of you have wakeboarding doppelgangers running around on your lakes, kicking people's dogs, and screwing their moms? Where does all this hate come from? I don't think I've ever been stared down except by a wally who thought I was doing something wrong but who was really breaking the navigation rules. |

When we go out, we usually have a tube. Just because we're in a nice v-drive doesn't mean everyone in the boat is a wakeboarder. And just because we're in the boat, doesn't make us any better or worse than you in the bayliner, or whatever it is. Give us the evil eye and we'll throw a beer at you _________________ http://www.myspace.com/galen96 |

wave, but if they glare back, ignore 'em and go about enjoying your day. it really just isn't worth your time nor worry. people like this are everywhere; school, work, wherever. just surround yourself with the good people, esp at home.
if that's not a lesson that applies universally, i don't know what is. |

i know me and johny_WA have sat at the local boatlaunch trying to find a pull, and a lot of people say their boat is full, then you see em out in the water with 4 people on the boat. it seems a lot of guys in wakeboard boats can be pretty cocky. i mean, the boats ARE sick, and chicks dig em, but that doesnt mean they have to be that way.
but like mentioned above, theres people like that no matter what the circumstance. |

This is not new the SAME thing happened with snowboarding about 10 years ago....
Up in NH we are clearly at a different pace than say FL or Cali but I still see what you people are talking about, just not as frequent. I have actually parked my boat and jumped in with another guy just so I could drive for him. Sure we try to fight for water at the same time alot but he knows if he needs to count on me for a pull I'm there. I barley know the guy but we are wakeboard brothers and down for the same cause. I know he doesn't like it too much when I'm out there wakesurfing all day while he is tryn to get his sets in, cuz we have talked about it. He knows if it mattered I would stop and give him good water but at 12:00 noon it's every boat for them selves as far as water goes. He can show up at 8:00 and ride with us old guys if he wants, we have offered a million times. I would say we are good terms....
I think in general it's best to kill them with kindness and keep smilen' so when the party does start people know who the cool cats are and come chill. _________________ PEACE

No offense to you, but you do realize that not everyone is really comfortable picking up strangers at the docks. I don't think that they're being cocky, they probably just don't want strangers on their boat. It's nothing personal, I really wouldn't feel comfortable in that position either to be honest... Also having extra people in the boat can significantly cut down on your riding time, so maybe to them 4 people is a "full boat." To me at least 4 riders in a boat is pretty full, even if we each only take one set that's about 2 hrs on the water. _________________ wakeboards

When I pass by a boat I always give them a wave, does't matter if they're in a tin bucket, bass boat fisherman, or a pimped out X-star. Part of it is just being the nice guy and sharing the water, the other is if the boat is pulling someone it's kind of a gesture that I know they have someone behind the boat or in the water. _________________ Don't do anything rash.....and don't do anything to get a rash... |

i understand all that. and it makes perfect sense. but being were in a small town, after a few days out there, you pretty much see the same people. you always hear of people on here talking about giving people rides and such. i guess some people dont realize not everyone can afford a boat. however, we sit at the docks with gas money, our own board, and our own beer. all we ask is for a ride.
i guess its a good thing we got hooked up with a Sanger so we dont have to sit at the docks anymore, but it got frustrating. sitting out there in 90+ degree heat, itching for a ride. wasting perfectly good water, and beach time with friends. |

DRAGON88, STAR for your first post.
ohio_wake_2008, You continue to amaze me.
Tyler~Moore, You also get a STAR
It is just like snowboarding was. Back in the day, if someone else was snowboarding, you would say hi, talk, share a beer with a complete stranger. Now its, "I'm hardcore and so much better than you". Same thing with wakeboarding except that the size of your penis (Your boat) is in full view for the arse-wipes to show everyone. Early mornings are the best for riding because anyone out at dawn is down for fun and obviously don't care who sees them since no one is usually out that early. _________________ Steal My Book

You give THEM the glare of being an idiot? Now that is irony at its finest...
I like to wakeboard, my better half likes to wakeboard and even her daughter likes to wakeboard however, you will find a tube on our boat from time to time. I guess that makes me an idiot in your eyes?!? Good god, get over it. There are so many other things to do on the lake besides wakeboard, believe it or not. I will take a tube ride in a chopped out lake anyday over tearing up my knees trying to be cool riding on crap water... and the kids... as much as she likes wakeboading... kids will be kids and they like to tube.
Its comments like yours that give wakeboarders the "bad-ass, punks" stereotype that they have... |
