I spend countless hours reading posts on wb.com and the ones that always make me mad are the ones about season endding injuries. I never really understood how people managed to hurt themselves and never really thought it would happen to me.
Well yesterday ended up being me last wakeboard pass for this year. I came down on a simple W2W indy and landed uneven, rolled me ankle and fractured my ankle. I live up in the Northeast to my season would normally end in about a month becuase the water gets too cold. I am expected to be on the injured list for a bout a month and a half acorrding to the doctor putting me way past the season end. I was planning on progressing the most in these last few weeks but it looks like my progressoin stops where it is now.
The point of this post is not to make people feel bad for me but instead make people realize how you should never take your ridding for granted. I would do anything right now for one more pass but now i have to wait about 7-8 months for the season to start.
Please enjoy your ridding and make every run matter becuase you may never know what may happen on the next jump.
Thanks for letting me post-

wait until you get better (watching a lot of videos). then buy a drysuit and some warm clothes. then try out all those tricks you have been waiting to try. don't know how cold the water gets where you live, but the best water is in the winter for me because there are very few boaters out in the winter months. that means total butter!!!

Sorry to hear that man. Make sure you let it heal up. Don't try and squeeze one last time in before your ankle is ready and end up doing some worse damage.
I just did something to my shoulder on a simple w2w indy also and got off balance. I think I tried to brace my fall with my arm and somehow it got pushed the wrong way and my shoulder POPPED. I am just glad I didn't dislocate it. Hopefully I'll be able to ride again in a few weeks.
Good luck on your recovery! |

i think thats the one thing that hinders my progression. before i jump all i can think about is landing wrong. whether its snowboarding, wakeboarding, or skating. i dunno why.
the one w2w that i landed in the flats, i pretty much cut as hard as i could toeside, then pretty much yelled at myself to "just f*****g DO IT!!" not quite nikes version, but it worked, lol.
now im afraid i wont get another ride in. im 225 miles away from my "kr3w" and not sure when i can make it down there again. |

Hey thanks for the support, the thing that makes me the most mad is the fact that I had to cut the laces on my brand new 05 transits to get my foot out without injuring my foot anymore.
My friends and I ride in the Long Island Sound in the Thimble Islands near Branford. It is funny, we were the first people to wakeboard in the island area and now we are kinda the legends of the area. There are several tour boats that go around and talk about us no stop.
But remember bottom line, enjoy every ride! _________________ www.teamredwake.com

I cant seem to remember where the thimble islands are but I keep my sportfish in Niantic. I see a Boston Whaler add in your sig, thats what my big sporty is. I used to have a 13 but we sold that for my 17 mako. But we have a 27 inboard with twin 300hp yanmar diesels. Its for sale if you know anyone looking for a FAST (32kt loaded and fueled down) canyon ready boat. PM me in the off chance you know someone for specs.

I work at a Boston Whaler dealership in Branford called Birbarie Marine. We ride off of a 1996 17' outrage, we weight it down alot and it puts out a pretty nice wake. _________________ www.teamredwake.com
