newb question

well guys im not new to wakeboarding, but deffinately the media world. I have no idea what im doing and recently i taped some footage on my camera that i want to convert over to the computer to try and do some editing. All i know is that i shot it on a sony digital camera on this dvc tape and i have no idea how to download it onto my computer. I have a usb cord that i hooked up but that didnt seem to be working if you could please help!! o ya and i just read on the dvc tape case that its mini DV.

you cannot use a usb cord to transfer footage to your computer, you need a firewire cable and a firewire card on your computer.
