I am a beginner and have purchased The Book, Higher Education, Waketrix, and Detention instructional videos and I thought I would give brief reviews for anyone else considering these products.

The Book: This is definitely my favorite! This 5 DVD set is almost 9 hours long and gets into great detail on body alignments, movement patterns, progressions, etc.

Higher Education: Of the single DVD products, I liked this one the best and for the same reasons I mentioned for The Book. This DVD is just under 2 hours long and they pack a lot great information into that time, from just getting up to crazy stuff I will never be doing.

Waketrix: I think that this is the most basic of the four as it does not get into the advanced tricks that the other DVDs do. And for me, this is fine as I am just getting started. If I ever manage to do all of the tricks this DVD covers, I will be thrilled. I like this DVD and this is the first one that I am going to have my more timid, first time rider friends watch. This DVD is just under 1.5 hours long.

Detention: I was disappointed with this DVD. Of the four, this one offers the least in the way of in depth information on body alignments, movement patterns, progressions, etc. for the beginning wakeboarder. The lessons go back and forth between class room and on the water video. The class room video is mostly people acting like fools. Others my find this entertaining but I did not. The on the water video is heavy on WHAT various techniques are but is a little light on HOW to perform them. But, I am not totally down on the DVD and I am glad to have it in my library. Perhaps as I progress though the basics as they are presented in the other DVDs, this one will become more valuable to me. This DVD is just under 1.5 hours long.

For all of the video durations I mention above, they all include some introductions, credits, bloopers, non-instructional video, etc. which make the actual instructional portions shorter.

Detention is getting a bit "long in the tooth" when you compare it the much newer offerings from Kyle and PJ but I remember at the time it really set the standard for instructional videos. I know my son about wore that tape out.

RD, Word... Boy has this sport made leaps and bounds since the 7 years I have been riding. When I first started, I remember there was nothing out, a website was unheard of, to see or learn new trick, one would have to buy a riding "VHS" and not to mention, you were the shiz if you could pull off a 720!

I highly recommend the book of all the new tools... Before I started working this camp here this summer, we had to watch this video to help teach the students, and the students watched it and made very quick progress whatever their skill level was.
