If you were at MWWF this weekend, you may have seen this custom Moomba running around. The guys were from Iowa and one dude in particular threw down pretty good.
Upon further inspection of the boat had ALL black vinyl in the boat, a windshield you couldn't see through, exposed exhaust (LOUD as hell) and get this....diamond plate flooring!! Like, truck box diamond plate!!
It was nearly 100 degrees every day at this event....tell me that interior wasn't smokin'!

It's amazing the lengths people will take to sacrifice function and comfort for looking cool.
And the tower looks butt ugly too!

No offense taken. Do you have pictures of any other "boats" from MWWF?

You all might be surprised at how some of the more expensive polyurethane upholstery might do in a situation like that. They actually market some stuff that supposedly will not burn you. It all depends on the material. Imagine that was black foam, black canvas, or maybe black faux fur. You wouldn't expect to burn yourself if you sat on it. Now imagine it's black cast iron...ouch. On the light-colored side of things, have you ever noticed how two patches of concrete, both the same light color, can feel totally different on your bare feet? One might feel great while the other will send you dancing into the grass. I can only speculate that the difference is caused by the different minerals in the mix.
IOW, it's possible that those people aren't quite as nuts as we think.

Could porosity, and moisture content, or even surface pattern, influence temperature in that case?

It just goes to show ya, just because you can use a saber saw and a welder, doesn't mean ya should.
He probably put the hot vinyl in there to keep that nice ass dancing around....

Regardless Black is still going to absorb a lot more energy than any other color and will still be substantially hotter that any other color. If the material doesn't burn you it will still feel damn hot on your bare back and arse.

Actually, no I wasn't just taking pictures of her ass. I don't remember ever seeing her sit down on those seats, so it was bound to be either her ass showing or her front side. I took pictures of all the boats, girls or no girls. That one got a few more shots cause I couldn't believe someone put black vinyl in their boat. I was trying to get a shot of the plated floor, but I thought, I don't want her to think I'm a perv taking pictures of her, so I didn't get those pics.

I can feel the difference between the blue and white interior on my boat. The blue is definitely hotter. I will take my pyrometer out this weekend and measure the temps on the three colors (grey, blue, white).

How much do you think it cost to customize that moomba like that?

cameraboy, with the little custom touches, I'd bet the guy is in metalworking of some sorts. I never got a chance to talk to him though. Not for everybody, but interesting nonetheless.
Dutch, I can't believe you took a pic of that girls ass and the other girls boobs in my boat. She's bending over for crying out loud!!! PERV!!
Can't wait to see how some of the riding pics turned out.

I don't know, I think you can like the boat or not (most people probably don't like every aspect) but he has definitely made it HIS. I stopped and talked to him while waiting at the boat ramp for a few minutes. I thought the tower worked well with the theme/attitude of the whole boat, again a lot won't like it for the artwork, but to each his own, it was definitely not a saber saw job. I looked pretty closely at the tower as I thought the design behind it was kind of interesting (not necessarily the artwork). It was very well done...the guy is definitely a skilled metalworker. He had also removed all the factory exhaust and fabbed custom stainless exhaust. And re-propped (dropped from 18 pitch to 15.5!) to get the tow speed into the meat of the engine revs...boat won't go over 35, but it will pull like a train at 23, turning over 3500 revs.
The guy is very proud of his boat and I think he should be, it's what he wants it to be and he's poured a lot of work and dollars into it. Eventually I hope my boat is exactly what I want it to be.
