Any stretch will affect the way you come off edge at the wake. if you are edging right you should be loading the line as you approch the wake this stored energy is what helps you get air when you leave the wake. If there is stretch in the rope the energy that is stored is used to recoil the rope not lift you. So yes do not have any stretch in the rope, even the handle. _________________ Shane Cook

The spectra rope should matter.
I first tried one of the thin spectra ropes (Liquid Force). They sink and tangle very easily. It is worth the extra money to get one of the specta lines that have a cover (Accurate Yellow Jacket, Straightline Blue Blazer).
When I was first looking for ropes I said I didn't think it would matter and got the cheaper spectra. I was wrong and now that rope sits in the bow.
