|
|
I am in the process of building a pylon for my boat. I plan on using a 3 cable system and had a question concerning the attachment point for the rear cables. Could it be possible to attach both cables to the same point? I would like to use a single 1/2" eye bolt for both of the rear cables, and one for the cable running to the front. I am using 3/16 cable for the front, should i use that for the rear or can i get by with 1/8? |

I have seen some pylons that were built using 3 seperate eye bolts, one for each cable(1 for the front and 2 for the rear.) I was wondering if the pylon would be more stable using a dedicated eye bolt for each cable, or if it would be ok if i only used two(1 for the front and 1 for both rear cables.) |

Your attachment dont work. I think he is referring to the eye bolts on his pylon, he wants one on the front for the rear two cables going to their deticated sides and one for the front cable. Willatter, I see no problem with doing it this way at all, this is how I am doing mine, it shouldn't make a bit of a different. |

If you use two different ones it will be more stable which is what i would suggest because it is just reassurance and barely costs anything and takes no time. _________________ The sky is not the limit. Wanna see me naked? |

I don't think it would make it any more stable then having seperate ones, it's not like they'd be far enough apart to make a difference anyways. I say do what you like but I see no reason why you cant just go off one and have any problems. |

Do you mean like this? If so, it works perfectly fine. Had a great time all weekend using this pylon. _________________ Long Island, NY & Canada Lake, NY (addirondacks)

Guitsboy that's exactly what he was talking about, see this confirms my thought on it would not make a bit of a difference. How is that hitchball on there? Why's it sticking it up so far. |

The hitch is great. Its sticking up about an extra 3/8" because thats where the threads start. The nut is welded into the top pipe coupler, and the ball screws down into the nut. _________________ Long Island, NY & Canada Lake, NY (addirondacks)

O ok I get ya. My threads were enough to bolt it all the way into a piece of 1/4 steel and then I put the cotter in to stop the nut from backing off. Then welding the 1.4 plate to the pipe. |
