|
|
Just talked to a rep and found out some stuff about 2006 hyperlite and Liquid Force. No one needs to bash Hyperlite because that is not the purpose of this thread. Anyway back on topic here is some stuff I have heard.
Hyperlite: Coming in mid August, You are not going to see any bindings like before. 2-3 pro model boots will be close toe (snowboard influenced) and all new meterial inside and out. The other bindings will just be different material inside and out and WAY more cumfy. Once again no need to bash but they are suppost to blow LF bindings out of the water. The Premier, Byerly, and Murray boards will all be changed and maybe changes in other boards too.
Lquid Force: Bindings are already awesome and probably won't see to many more changes except they will be trying to make them more durable. Also you might see some price increases because of higher quality materials. Another thing, They are going to be a lot more pro model bindings for a lot more of their team. Basically more of their riders will have their own boots. So their won't be only three high end bindings. Also more riders on their team will have their own pro model boards including Phil Soven whos pro model board and bindings setup will be unbeatable in their line up!! Soven will have his own bindings and board along with a few other riders.
CWB: 2006 will deffinetly be there biggest year as they will be pushing their bindingis from great to incredible. Should see many changes for the better to bindings and new 2006 boards will also be awesome. Graphics are suppost to be like the sickest graphics ever and seing what 2005 was like, those graphics will be hard to beat.
Later,
Chris

| Toe closed boots? Another gimmick. Maybe they should remove the claw system?

LF is also working on a closed toe binding. Not sure what to say about the concept. So far, I am skeptical of it's usefulness to say the least.
CWB has some new products that are going to make many rethink binding technology. No gimmicks, just real useful stuff. Graphics/colors are excellent to say the least.

I'm skeptical also. I think I'd rather slide a little farther into my boot than cram my toe into the front of the binding. And that will make sizing very difficult and won't allow water to freely wash out of the binding... It don't see much of a benefit.
Also LF bindings are supposed to be considerably lighter in 2006.

Quite the contrary DMAC. They are ahead of the game (have you seen the ABS/Tranc/Marius????) in all aspect but bindings, which isn't exactly a bad thing seeing as their current offerings are some of the most comfortable bindings available right now. The 06 line is going to turn heads, and like I mentioned above, no gimmicks, just real useful stuff.

| anyone else think that with HL making closed toe bindings that on a hard fall where you would normally stick your foot though, you might end up breaking a toe? taht or just prevent you from going through.

i got the chance to be at the wwc when trevor hansen and derek grasman were working on a closed toe boot a little less than a year ago. they both came out of there rides saying that a closed toe boot was ridicolous. first it offers no other support and has no actual purpose. then they also said that there is just way to many times that a wakeboarder shoves his foot through the front of the boot and broken toes dont feel good going into the boot. But ive heard from some people that next years liquid force stuff is off the chain and it looks unbelievable. Same with CWB's. Havnet got a chance to see hyperlite's but im suretheyll have somehting cool in there line. And if not theyll just throw on something that has no actual purpose like most times.

ive seen some 06 stuff from cwb. lets just say i was going to buy some new bindings this year but am holding out after seeing some of their "low-end" offerings for 06. i also had the chance to ride with an incredible handle that imo could be the end to all blister problems. not to mention their boards are incredible. ive never ridden anything like the absolute or marius.
i think 06 will be the year for bindings. everyone is trying to keep up with liquid force. closed toe sounds lame. theyve done it on skis so... its possible but probably no benefit. i cant even picture boots like that. it would look awful. im just happy that my feet will feel like this next year.

hyperlite, obrien, and liquid force all use a claw like system. im sure you will se some more similar mounting systems next year too. the claw is going no where.

itch, maybe so, but neither Tony nor Herbie have laid claim to it as their design, so let the war of misinformation begin!
Yay for short+wide boards, zippers on bindings, neo liners in bindings, etc. etc. etc.
If it can be sold to the masses as an "innovative" or "new" concept, Tony or Herbie will try to sell it to them, regardless of the fact that it was not their design originally.
But who cares right? Who needs Integrity?

| from what i got a chance to see cwb will be going will the claw system also. but as you all probably know the claw system right now SUCKS. on hyperlites and obriens the screws would always come loose then would end up stripping out all the grooves then after that your bindings were useless. But im pretty sure CWB will making a double groove so instead of just one row there will be two so no more worries bout having to tighten your stuff b4 every set. i always thought hyperlite would know that their claw system sucks but they never fixed it. But CWB took some initiative and fixed the original then made it more secure and way better

wakeforfun, CWB will not be using the "Claw" system. The new system is completely different than the "Claw".
I won't comment further than that.

Let us not forget about Concrete busting into the industry...
Also, from what I've heard, LF's F.A.S.T system is totally revamped for '06...And they will be trying to push FreeMotion more. (Look for a freemotion version of the alpha).

Im not that into most of there graphics except for the absolute plat. but the marius is so sick. I was laways into LF they still make super cool stuff, there bindings are unbeatable i think. but i love my marius

i still dont understand the purpose of having a closed toe binding. i mean, what will happen to all that lube that you just used to put on your binding?

scott a, I am sure there will be some sorta drain for it somewhere...
I am not sold on the idea either... but think of it this way... how many snowboarders do you know that have ever "broken a toe" I can claim... um... none

Don't forget Obrien! Daniel will have an all new model - The Natural (In 134, 139 and 144, its said to be "An evolution of his current board, but very different") and Sanders will have another model aswell - The Vice (In 131, 136 and 141, "Very wide with a radical new fin set up) The Player and Vision are staying in the Obrien line though, but not as anyones pro models, so they will drop in price

Yeah, fulltilt had a full on snowboard inspired boot. It had ratchets, a closed toe, fabric, the whole nine. This was in like 1998...and nobody really bit on that one.
The thing is, a snowboarder won't (or shouldn't) have a broken toe from sliding forward because heel lift is completely nearly eliminated by both the snowboard boot and the binding. With a wakeboard binding, I can't imagine anyone wanting to be straped in THAT tight. I mean, with a fall that hard, i want to come completely out of my bindings. But that's just me.
at any rate, i also thought about the broken toe thing. Whatever, I won't be buying those bindings anyway.

| I don't understand. What is the actual BENEFIT of having a closed toe binding. I mean, apart from having a cool new gimmick to sell to people. How does this help my wakeboarding in any way?

Here are some photos from the Alliance website. There is just a hint of the new boots from Hyperlite and Liquid Force, and notice the new handle that Parks has in that picture.

als132, you find it better to support board companies with convicted felons at the helm?
Seriously, what the hell could possibly be your reasoning for 'hating' CWB?

that new handle is just a new shape for a carbon, one thing i think hyperlite needs to come up with is something extremely different that no one has done b4 ex,

Lf-fish | For different and never done before, how about the Byerly flow-thru rail, the Era fret rail, the State, the Boa system, and the Claw system (even as I type this, I can hear the haters going "gimmick, gimmick, gimmick, gimmick, gimmick" like some frogs, but don't knock it if you haven't tried it). One I left out is the Roam, which technically was done a long time ago down under, but Hyperlite has brought that idea to the masses.

Very few people know about the felons there Chavez. Very few.
That's one of the reasons I will never buy an HO product though. That and all it is is a marketing company.
Buzz around Orlando is that CWB has a boot that will "re-invent" boot tech. Not sure what the hell that means... Also Proline has actual leather handles. Supposedly an unreal feel to the handle. LF boots have an inner liner and will be quite a bit more $, HL has a new plate, material, everything. They completely changed all their boots. I also hear JD has a board but some guy told me that after a twelver.
I have no clue why one would want a closed toe boot.. It may look cool on the shelf.
