If you like the look of it, use a mix of Mineral Spirits and Tung Oil.
About 1 part MS to 10 parts Tung.
this is basically teak oil and will perserve the wood. You'll have to do this every spring and late fall.
The mineral spirits are a drying agent for the Tung. Tung can take days to dry otherwise.

After trying everything from Tung Oil to Mineral Spirits to Stains I finally found a product for outdoor furniture that holds up and it makes everything look like a fine piece of furniture. It's transluecent and with a few coats it gives a 3-d affect.

I've seen the sikkens. Doesn't that put a varnish like finish on though?
Not tha it's bad, just don't like the flakes after a year or so.

Leggester,
I used the Cetol Base and Dek. It's a two part system, three application system. Put on the first coat and wait a week and add another. It has a lot of oil so it takes about a week before it soaks into the cedar. After six weeks you put on the Cetol Dek. Then every two years you put on another top coat. --Wished I would've listened to the wife and used Trex instead. Looks great but man it's a lot of work. It has to be brushed on.
I made some tables, adirondeck chairs and my BGE table and used the Cetol SRD, a two coat system and looks just the same.

If you do nothing, over the period of a year or two it will age naturally to a greyish tone. Which I think looks fine too.
lcap, haven't had good experience with trek. Needs a lot more support than regular wood. As in 12" centers, not even 16".

I can vouch for lcap, the Sikkens stuff rocks. I've done cedar fences 3 years ago now that still look like the day I stained them. Their stuff kicks!
