I'm an intermediate rider, but still have trouble clearing the other wake off of a jump everytime. I often come about 6 in to ft too short and fall. Any suggestions on technique? _________________ Cybernetic Ghost-I am the ghost of Christmas Past and I will tell you what Christmas was like

| Just make sure you edge all the way through the wake and dont back off your edge. Also be sure to use a progressive edge and stand tall. That should do it. |

You could also try to increase your boat speed to 22-23. That should help you get more air. _________________ go big or go home |

| yea i got a question on boat speed. what is the speed most people ride at here. i try to go about 23-25 but i think my main problem is trying to push off when i hit the wake to get more air, but i dont know cause i'm trying to teach myself. any help much appreciated. |

Gruelie,
At the wake don't straighten your legs in an effort to jump off the wake... straighten them in an effort to resist the boats pull. Straighten them and lean back on your edge a little bit to make that last tug against the boat. Keep your chest pointing up to the sky. Like puffing up your chest to impress the ladies Shoulders back and handle at your hip. After you leave the wake keep your chin up and look to the other shoreline. This is what I have been trying to do on a consistent basis and it has helped me tremendously.
Hope it helps. _________________ I'm not buying it a beer Dude!

Imagine your wake is one foot taller and stay on edge to that spot and you'll nail it every time. When most people think stand tall, they also subconsciously "stand flat" which is not it at all. Like the post above mine said, bring your hips up to the handle, push your shoulders back, straighten your legs (same idea as standing tall) and you will get it.

| so i should go into the wake with my legs kinda straight and stiff and not try to push off the wake but let the pull of the boat do most the work for me? |

Yes, The boat is trying to pull you forward, If you try to stop that momentum while hanging onto the rope the only place for that momentum to travel is up. That’s probably not a great description but that’s all I can come up with.... By stiffening up as you hit the wake... the wake stops your forward momentum… and because your connected to the boat via the rope, your momentum is forced upward. It’s the same concept as Air rolls, except that the wake multiplies the force. PS I have not been able to land an air roll yet but I know its the same concept, just harder to produce without the wake. |

21-22mph works for me everytime, set your edge and stand up straight when you hit it and you will clear it everytime _________________ www.entrustclothing.com |

| I have a consistancy problem so its kinda holding me back from harder tricks cause I can clear the wake every time but sometimes I hit it right and soar into the flats and sometimes I land right on the down side. |

All the tips on how to jump farther/higher are good, but one quick fix could be to take 5 feet off your rope or add 1-2 mph to your speed. Its kind of cheating, but it will narrow the wakes and you can have more fun. I did that a couple years ago and as i got better (was hitting flats consistently, ouch ) i lengthened the rope. Give it a try. _________________ Don't listen to advice from people who can't land that trick. My list:
HS+TS w2w jumps, HS+TS w2w 180, backroll
working on: I don't know, so happy I just landed backroll! |

speeding up will also make your wake smaller. i used to ride about 23 or 24 mph and could clear w2w but not much air. now i ride about 21mph and rely on my progression to build up my speed. wake is bigger. jumps are bigger with more air. landing in the flats now _________________ wounds heal, pain fades, glory lasts forever

i've got the same problem, sometimes i'll hit it real hard and get it right and get all the air i need, then sometimes i'll hit it and land 2 ft off the lip. it's a wierd thing. _________________ is everybody on the boat readily accesible? |
