Has anyone here had the balls to try a dockslide? I keep on thinking I'll try it, but then I decide I don't feel like dying today. I was thinking I might try it at the end of Summer, when I got nothing to lose... except snowboarding
it would make me feel a lot better if someone else out there has landed a few _________________ The consciousness of self is the greatest hindrance to the proper execution of all physical action.

i've been wanting to do one but can't find a dock that looks good. i just want to boardslide the edge but i can't find a dock with the final piece of wood running parrallel to the way i'm going. they're always perpendicular. |

well, an obvious one to point out would be the bulkheads on your local lake... _________________ The consciousness of self is the greatest hindrance to the proper execution of all physical action.

Somebody does it in All or Nothing, both on the edge and on the whole thing. As long as you wet it first to make the wood slippery, i dont see why you would kill yourself... |

i thinki'd rather slide on dry wood. wet wood is more grippy. |

It depends, if the wood is clean then dry is slipperier, but if is has a little algae on it like most docks do, it gets really slippery. It would probly be a good idea to try and see before hitting it. In All or Nothing they wetted the whole dock. |

are you talking about olling onto it and riding across teh whole deal, or just ollying from the side and nose sliding? ive done the nose slide thing, but be careful cause I put a big gash in my board with nails or something that were sticking up from the dock. its no different than pvc except a little grippier _________________ www.georgiawakeboardlessons.com |

Yeah, I've done 'em. Start out by just olieing over the corner, then olie and tap/slide the last 1 or 2 feet of the dock. Then go for the whole thing. Make sure that there aren't any nail head sticking up or eye bolts at the corners. They slide pretty easily. It's more mental than anything. Good luck!

I've done a couple dock slides on my dock. It's about 1 and 1/2 feet out of the water and its a floating dock. Its 10 ft long, but the biggest problem I had was the drive on jet ski port at the end. What I did was ollie onto the dock and then ollie over the jet ski port. I chipped my wakeboard (the molded fins) from landing to hard onto the dock from the ollie. It took a good bit of balls to do it, but afterward it was like, so thats it? Its cool if you can find a good dock to grind. |
