So I wanna learn how to grab my 180's but will I have to let go of the handle when I start 3's? I cant see using 1 hand to grab the board and 1 to hod the handle. Do we have to do them osmosis? Finnally is this a stupid question?

| when you start out grabbing your 180's, grab mute (left hand between your legs on your toeside edge if your regular, and opposite if your goofy). that grab forces you to lean over your toes a bit, thus forcing you to land on your toes which is good. then, when you start grabbing 3's, try and grab them slob (same as a mute, except hand goes almost all the way to the nose of the board). start out just kinda slapping the slob grab, and then once you have that, grab and hold. |

Ok when grabbing 180s you grab on the way up and spin on the way down.. your spinning frontside so you can hold the grab for the whole spin if you like..
For 3s you have to spin backside at some point so you have two options.. grabbing either at the start and then passing the handle or passing it then grabbing on the way down. You DONT hold the grab for the whole trick unless you were doing some real styled-out osmosis 3 which I dont think i've ever heard of.
Pretty much if your doing frontside 3s (spinning a frontside 180 then a backside 180) you grab on the frontside part of the spin at the start. Likewise if your doing backside 3s (backside 180 then frontside 180) then its naturally easier to grab at the end when your not passing the handle. _________________ Riding

Although if your dead-set on doing a 3 holding the grab the whole trick then you need to learn an ole 3. Basically its a 360 degree rotation whilst keeping the handle in your front hand and passing it over your head. You have to go off-axis at least a little to get the handle around and yes, it can be done with a grab for the whole trick.. They are fun to try, although I have never landed one.. you start the rotation off almost like releasing from the wake like a backroll, but really laid out.. _________________ Riding

It is near impossible to do a f/s ole 3. if you do the ole either ts or hs you can grab nearly the whole rotation, but it will naturally spin you to 5 either way. notice how the guys w/ sick ole moves(watson, lyman, etc.) only do them 5s and beyond. _________________ Mark Kenney, 1983-2002

You can always try wrapping for your 3, and then you don't have to let go of the handle to do the handle pass.
