How is Calero Res/Lake compared to Anderson ?

Just wondering since it could be a good option in case Anderson is packed.

Thanks

Well Neither are stellar lakes for wakeboarding. Andersen has appointments for launching now, go online and place your request. That is a pretty neat feature. Andersen also has an awesome boat ramp but a lot of idiots go to that lake and the chaos to get off the lake is down right disgusting. Calero is smaller but a little more user friendly.

my 02 cents worth

I forgot to mention I have been to Anderson a bunch of times but never to Calero... from what you say Calero is worth checking out for the userfriendlyness factor...

Is Calero appointment only now as well?

Thanks,

Robert

rho, didn't want to look into coyote?
Calero is ridiculously small, unless you are pretty much the only person out there.
Are you riding weekdays? weekends?
Anderson is multiple times bigger, but will also get packed just as bad on the weekends.
No matter where you go, there will be idiot boaters.
I am not sure about Calero being appointment only (weekends), but you might look into it.
I just avoid weekends all together- its hardly worth trying to ride if you want good water and sane boat drivers, but I understand that isn't an option for everyone.

tWaker2, Actually I was looking at Coyote as well... I was going to camp there in a few weeks so that was already on the future list.

I'm just trying to check out as many Lakes in the area as possible to get familiar with all the options this summer.

If Calero is that small maybe I'll skip it this weekend and make an appointment at Anderson...

Thanks for the info...

If you are going to spend a day on the lake make the trip to the delta. A day on anderson or calero is pointless if you are serious about riding. Anderson and Calero are really efficient for morning or evening sets during the week, but thats about it.

Calero = windy and at least half the size... so if you like the ocean

Coyote sucks as well...

rho, I live 5 minues away from calero and ride there about 3 times a week. i went yesterday at 10 and stayed untill about 1:30. I was the only boat on the water and the lake was totally glassy. Calero tends to be like this during the week but on the weekends it is horrible and I stay away. Also The water usually doesn't stay calm until 1:30 like it did yesterday. (I must of lucked out) Basically if you want to do calero you need to go in the morning on a week day. If you do end up going you probably wont be the only boat on the water because I will be there too. Wink

Both Anderson and Calero are not good in the afternoon (what lakes really are?).

I've had really good runs at both early in the morning. But good water only lasts on Anderson on the weekend until 10 am ish. At Calero, it probably never exists on the weekend!

Calero is very small, there are lots of jetskiers, and you are supposed to go in one direction. I've never been there on the weekends (other than the Byerly demo day), and wouldn't want to.

When I lived down there, I'd go out to Anderson on Tuesdays and Calero on Thursdays. Water usually sucked, but it was still fun to be out on the boat after work. Good to get the repetition in to solidify certain tricks, though bad water can develop bad habits. Good luck.

I'd also recommend the Delta. You can make it up here from SJ in a little over an hour and you will always be able to find good water regardless of what time or day of the week it is.

Thanks for the recommendation for the Delta... I've been told that is a better alternative.

Can you tell me a good place to launch, either coming up from 680 or 580/Vasco Road...

Thanks,

Robert

if Anderson is packed, I would stay far away from Calero....it'll be 1000x worse.

rho,

You can take Vasco Road all the way into Brentwood until you hit Balfour. Turn right on Balfour and this will pretty much take you all the way to Orwood. Check out the link:

calero and anderson both suck during the weekend and during the day. i live 5 min away from calero and 10 from anderson so i ussually ride my freestyle jet ski at calero and wakeboard there also. if i really want to go out and i know ifs going to have more than 3 boats on it i just head to anderson.... memorial day SUCKED at anderson and we got there at 4 and left at 7, it was getting better as the time progressed though.
