I can easily do frontfilps, knee drops to frontflips, and working on doing a scrarecrow. However, I can't picture the rotation or build up the confidence to do a backflip. I've done a search, and everything I found didn't really help. Thanks.

jump straight up, then kick your head back and throw your knees to your chest. You'll flip right over.

i trampoline alot at my cottage. i was afraid too but when u jump go to the front of the trampoline , then whipe ur head back and tuck your knees in, are u using a rope attatched toa tree? just make sure you tuck un tight and dont launch urself of the trampoline, i did that one time and it was f*****, i can do handle passes between my legs on a trampoline lol. good luck just once ur about to do it dont chicken out and land on ur neck.

Dude get yourself to a pool and chuck them off the edge there. Just make sure you jump out far enough that you clear the edge of the pool. When you take them to the tramp you just have to adjust so that your hips go forward and your shoulders go back +1 -1 = 0 effect so you dont end up off the tramp. They are easy to learn in the pool and just keep practising until you have the confidence to throw them hard enough to get all the way around.

Then get out on the water and bang out a tantrum matey... you'll never regret it! Wink

Like I said, If you jump straight up, THEN kick your head back/knees up, you don't have to worry about flipping off the tramp. Jump, then flip. Don't flip from the tramp.

Just get someone to spot you or literally do the flip for you. With my friend the first time he was to afraid to throw the flip so I pretty much had to pick him up and flip him. Then he got more and more comfortable and I only had to assist him. Then finally he had the confidence to just throw it. You can spot by having your hand behind the persons back and when they jump to get inverted you push up on thier lower back and assist the rotation, this usually only works if the person actually commits, unless they are really light. another way I do it is have on hand on thier chest and one below the knee and I push the chest back and lift the knees and then you can't get hurt if your spotter can hold your weight. If you have no spotter just jump up and throw your knees into your chest and it will take you around if you commit and don't resist.

the way i learned (which was years ago but i still remember) is to start out barely even jumping and going way over your side. this does not look at all like a backflip but it will build your confidence. gradually flip more and more over your head. its hard to explain but flip more over your shoulder and to the side at first. once you feel like you can do this try to do a back handspring to the side, which is where you would flip over your shoulder and bounce off your hands and then to your feet. after this then do a straight back handspring over your head. once your good at those then go for the backflip. by then you will have worked up your confidence and should have proper form. it sounds confusing i know and im sorry about that but its just so hard to explain. thats how i learned and then i taught my brother like that so it worked for both of us. try it out and see what happens

I learned by doing a back bounce and then kicking my legs up and over my head and onto my feet. So jump up, land flat on the tramp (on your back), bounce up and as you come up throw your hips and legs over backwards. Do this in the middle so you don't fly off the tramp. This will get you used to flipping backwards which is a very weird feeling at first.

After that, backflips were easy for me...as long as you always go up first.

Not busting chops but you guys make it sound harder than it is....

IMO - and that's what it is my opinion.
All that back bounce stuff and landing sidewayz crap is a waste of time, you are training yourself to do a back bounce or an incomplete flip.

Nutt-up and look straight back once you are in the air if you need a spotter for the first few by all means have someone spot you.
Don't waste your time training yourself how to do a half flip!

It is one of the easiest flips to do on a tramp almost as soon as you look back you can spot the landing.
Hence why most weekend warriors can only do Tantrums off the wake.
Tuck the knees in and you will flip even faster than the layout style most people do at first.

Yeah getting someone to spot you or to even 'help' you do the flip is really good. We have taught a few by standing on the side of the tramp (with someone on the other side for counterbalance) and placing one hand on the persons chest and the other on their ass.. (carefully Shocked ). Then when they bounce and start you lean back you 'spot' them or help them by pushing their chest back and hips forward... once you have done that a few times they quickly get the feel of it and can do it themselves... saves a few hard falls.

Although how I learnt, and personally the best way I think, was when we got access to the local diving club's trampoline which uses a harness and these great big ropes on a frame... we were doing triple backflips in no time! Wink haha.

I do them all the time, You have Jump Once and On the way down bend your knees! Alot! and As you feel the tramp pushing you up Over extend your back backwards!...th tramp will knock 180 without you do anything! because the force of the tramp will puch your legs over your head becuase your already leaning back!

J_DOGG has it exactly how i would say it.

You're not going to get anywhere when just trying all these things that are "around" the backflip. Just go for it one time. Try to rotate and land in the same spot, wait till you are in the air to start your rotation if you know what i mean. If you jump right off backwards you will probably fly off of the trampoline, which will practically never happen if you focus on jumping, rotating, and landing in the same spot.

Just try it, don't half ass it or else you will get hurt, other than that you will be fine!

yah, when i do them i almost throw them a bit forward to really counter act the backwards momentum, and so this weekend i am going to try a toeside tantrum b/c i always do them on my tramp no problem.

HatzicMotive140, its called a ts backroll.

colefooter, I disagree with you saying you won't get anywhere trying things that are around a backflip. I learned backflips off the ground doing things that were similar until I had the confidence to throw it, mind you the tramp is alot softer than just a matress but I couldn't afford to just throw it. Now if you were throwin a double than that changes everything, then you have to just go for it.

really, oh ok...well i am doing a back flip not a backwards cart wheel...like a heel side back roll, so is it actually a toeside backroll?

It doesn't matter, thats just what it is called. They are similar in rotation, but a tantrum is a trip flip, and ts backroll is a progressive edge like a hs backroll so you could argue that. Either way its still called a ts backroll.

To start the rotation you just throw your knees into your chest and let the momentum you just built carry you over.

with any effort at all, you'll at least flip around 3/4 and land on your stomach.
