Yea slow the boat down a bit will make it easier to learn surface tricks and the falls will hurt less. Also if your board has 2" or surf style fins you might want to take those off because they will grip the water heaps and put you on your face easily.

There is tons of stuff you can do that isnt wake-to-wake. Frontside surface 180s, backside surface 180s, ollie 180s, surface 3s, ollie 3s (if your game), wake grinds, butterslides, powerslides, carving, riding switch and carving, ollie over buoys and cans, try and manual your board, little 180s over one wake, some of the body tricks here: http://www.wakeboarder.com/tricks/surfacetricks.phtml , it looks madd when you see some one lay it out in the water... i've seen flip stacks that go into bodyslides and then the riders pull it round and stand up... now thats skill and it looks madddd. Wink

Play on other boats rollers, that one I like to do... amazingly enough you can actually do flips off other boats rollers.. have got around on a tantrum before... then again if you get real good at load-and-release or your trip flip, a few basic flip tricks (backroll, R2R, tantrum) are able to be done in the flats.

Just really develop your own style of riding, play and have FUN!

i hit all my spins and inverts off other boats wakes, its fun, TS inverts are a B*tch but still fun, try some air roll to reverts or any flips of other boat wakes, i started learnin the air r2r when my boat broke and we rode behind my friends 14 foot whaler, i'd hit them inside out of one wake and once you get the hang of that, its not too hard to hit the air roll to revert, it makes for an interesting time when you can do inverts off of some kids wakeboard boat when they are learnin to board, alot of people go crazy when i do stuff like that and set wakes for me. Another thing thats fun is nailing somebody elses big wake and goin off axis and spinning as fast as u can, i rotated a completely out of wack ts9, i was soo dizzy and busted my face... just some ideas Rolling Eyes Laughing

alafiaboarder, what kind of tricks could you do behind the whaler? The wake on my boat is a bit bigger but not much. I'm wondering whatv kind of goals are realistic. Think with practice I could maybe land a 3, I doubt an invert is in my futer but you never know...

You can ollie 360 with no wake. I actually landed my first handle pass 360 behind a jetski. There is a lot you can do behind a small wake.

Here's a list of tricks you should work on with a tiny wake:

HS jumps+grabs.
TS jumps+grabs.
SWITCH RIDING. This is the best thing you can work on to get comfortable with.
Ollies
180s (8 types of 180s)
Regular hs fs 180
Switch hs fs 180
Regular hs bs 180
Switch hs bs 180
Regular ts fs 180
Switch ts fs 180
Regular ts bs 180
Switch ts bs 180

Once you have those mastered you can work on 360s. Ollie 360s (8 types also)

You can always do these tricks over objects too. Whenever I get behind a waverunner my favorite thing to do is ollie 360 over objects.

That should take you a good 2 seasons+ to get all of that locked down. After that it gets tricky. You can do air rolls/tantrums etc. Or you can do these tricks off rollers from other boats. There are endless things to learn on a wakeskate with no wake.

Yeah, one thing I have no shortage of is old rollers. The problem is that when they're around the water usually sucks. Whatever, the ferry runs during the week. When you say your first handel pass 360 aws that a ollie or a wake jump?
