Hey guys, i have 2 tower speakers right now but i am going ot be getting 2 more cans with fr and bk speakers (4 cans 6 Speakers) and i would like to have 1 ten or 2 tens and am going to change out the inside speakers as well. NOW i want to get 2 6 channel amps. Is it bad to get that many channels on the amp, or would it be better to get seperate amps for the speakers and the subs? TIA

Centrider, I would recommend 3 amps. 1 for the tower, 1 for the sub, 1 for the interior.

Power and brand is up to you, but just make sure they are stable to 2ohm at a minimum, 1ohm is preferable.

Take a look at the Kicker Amps. I currently running a 700.5 in my boat. It is a 5 channel with 4x75 watts for mids/highs and a 420 watt mono 2ohm suboower amp. I've got 4 6.5" tower speaker 4 6.5" interior speakers a 12" Fosgate HE2 and a 10" Fosgate HE2 all run off this amp.

It pushes really hard and you can run an entire system off of it.

Or if you really wanted to pound hard get two Kicker 500.3 amps and run your system off those.

bkw4287, those Kicker amps do really well from what I have heard. Do they get hot pushing all that?

Centrider, on second thought, with 6 speakers on the tower, you will need stability to 1ohm as the 3 speakers wired in parallel will draw a 1.33ohm load. This will put much strain on the amplifier and it will need to be quite potent to handle the load.

The Kicker Amp runs semi hot, but no worse than any Fosgate or JL amp. I've run the amp all day in the boat and never had it cut on me.

bkw4287, cool. My brother's work just started carrying them, just curious to see how they did with a solid load on them in case I ever wanted to use one in a boat install.

Also look at Zapco, we use the i-Force i2100 in our boat, it's a 2 ch. 350 watt amp, we power 4 pioneer 6x9 3-way's with it, we use another one for our 2 12 inch Kicker comp-vr's. We are taking out the sub one most likely and going bigger, but our tower is MUY LOUD.

Requires 4-gauge power and ground leads - wiring and hardware not included with amplifier
2-, 3-, or 4-channel output
Tri-Way capable
Front and rear high-pass/low-pass crossovers (variable 50-210 Hz, 12 dB/octave)
MOSFET power supply and output devices
TOPAZ - noise-killing differential inputs that eliminate 80% of ground loop noise
Trans•ana circuitry keeps preamp voltages low and signal paths simple for outstanding audio quality
NOMAD - advanced protection circuitry for "intelligent" shutdown protection
Speaker and preamp level inputs
Punch Bass boosts bass up to 18 dB at 45 Hz

It's not the greatest, but I've had good luck with audiobahn amps…..they are very cheap…and you get decent power. Even the lower end amps have built in fans and the mid grade amps run fairly cool even at 2 ohm loads. I've used them for 2 years with zero problems. One downside they are unregulated….I think some of the higher end amps have regulated power supplies. Depends on how much you have to spend.
