|
|
After reading up on the internet it’s clear to me that the monster tower is among the best, if not THE best, wakeboard towers.
The boat we have is about 40 year old Jeanneau . The width should be ok, it’s approximately 70 in. But will the old fiberglass hold the tower?
We’re planning on installing wood on the underside of the deck to divide the pressure of the bases.
The manual says something about gelcoat? I don’t know much about boats, and English is my second language, so I don’t know if we have a gelcoat above the fiberglass. Do we need it? Or do we just need to make sure the the tickness is at least 3/8”?
To give you an idea of our boat I included some pictures. If you need more info, I’ll be happy to give it to you.
By the way, the boat was very cheap, we got a good deal, it's looking a lot better now (red on top), but i don't have any new pictures yet... |

Cool boat! I really like the old skool Mercury. Remembers me of some good times.
About your question; The gelcoat is the white part of your boat, so the body of your boat is fiberglass and to make the outside smooth and nice looking they lay a part of gelcoat on it.
For adding a tower onto your boat, I don't think you only have to look at your thickness of your fiberglass. I think your boat is not heavy enough to put a tower on it, your towpoint with tower is to far up then and this can causes you boat to sway alot.. |

inmykingdom, I think i'll have to agree with Laptom, if you throw a tower on there it will work but the boats handling will be very much compromised, when the rider edges out the boat will lean and in the worst case it could start to turn quite badly.
I think you may need to look at other options for now. possibly getting a slightly bigger boat with more HP. _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |

I think it will work just fine... Like the other two guys mentioned, I think you'll have to turn your steering wheel to compensate for the rider cutting into the wake. If you're not a huge wakeboarder and you don't cut that hard, and you just want a little something to help pull you out of the water, this will work perfect.
I think we'd all like to see some photos of the finished product, with a wakeboarder behind it though.
Good luck & it's a pretty sweet boat for the age.

we're not gonna take our chances on putting a tower on our vintage-boat...
thanks for your comments, although i had really set my mind on it, we'll have to keep doing it the old-school way
instead we've got plans to buy a new boat after this season
all we need now is money - this time, a real "ski"-boat (thinking mastercraft pro star 190)
i'll take some pics soon of our 'pimped' boat in red with black carpet.
laterz... |

Entrust Clothing, hmm I'm not convinced by that. they ar enot the best, but they are very capable.
Throw some weight in and its not bad at all, some would say about the same as your Moomba.
They do need some weight but they aren't that bad. _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |
