I've got a boat lift with straps. I just adjusted the settings to the widest point. When the boat is lifted out of the water the straps pinch the rub rails.
Is there anything i can do to provent so much pressure on the rub rails, or is thsi the trade off of having the straps????

i would think that there is no other way..except to have the top of the straps out ALOT further then your slip or dock...seems like logic to me...why are you worried?

i'm not too worried, on my last boat the straps left a big indentation. THis time i'm noticing some scuff marks left from the straps.

I guess there will always be a fair amount of pressure on the widest part of the boat (i.e. the rub rails)

hmm...i would think that is poor construction on the boat part then...i wouldnt think that a 3k boat being lifted on straps would really put that much pressure on the sides..atleast not enough to bend/indent ...

what kinda boats?

the boat is fine. There is a lot of pressure on the rubrails. On my last boat the straps made premanent marks on the rubrails. I widend the setings and now i'm getting some scuff marks from the straps.

If your worried about the scuffs, mark the straps where they contact the rubrail. Then, attach a wrapped up towel or thick pipe insulation foam in that area.
