I currently own a 2004 Supra SSV Launch, love the boat, hate the racks.

The racks have chewed two of my boards one a CWB (sol) cheapie, and the other a Liquid Force Trip the racks I have now I am unsure of the name but they have a rubber insert that wears with one day on the lake whichs makes the board sit on the aluminum. I had the dealer replace the racks and to my surprise the new racks continued to pose a problem, therefore, eliminating a defect in the old racks. (my opinion, bad design)

I am looking for a rack that either has a locking mechanism like Mastercraft offers, or some recomendations as to a good rack that won't eat the side of my boards. I am not sure if most racks are universal for the towers.

I have the older style Supra tower

Any and all Suggestions are welcome, my email is btcarro@qwest.net

Thanks
Ben

Go to the paint section of Lowes or Home Depot near the spraypaint and look for a product called Plasti-dip. You can coat the arms of the rack in the same rubbery material that comes on pliers’ handles. You can get this product in many different colors to match your boat. Hope this helps

Thanks for your replies I may try the coating thing. Thanks!

One more ?, does anyone know if someone makes protection device that can slip onto the boards to protect them?

i dont think this is allowed, but i'm gonna sugest a HYPERLITE product (GASP!!) but hyperlite makes a rubber wrap for wakeboards and wakeskates. i've never used one, but it sounds like it could solve your problem.

Another thought, you could have them Rhino lined, that should at least take off the sharp edges. I don't know if it would mar the boards though.

btcarro, I emailed you concerning your racks a week or two ago asking if they were Mako racks or some other brand. Feel free to contact me at neil@mako-ind.com so we can get your situation cared for.

FWIW, I've been running the same set of Mako racks for two seasons now and the rubber is not showing any sign of breaking down.

Hope to hear from you.
