|

Just wondering if anyone has installed their own ski pole cheaply? And I don't mean extended pylon, I'm just talking a regular ski pole... for *gasp* skiers!
Seriously though, anyone done this at low cost? I asked the marina about an install and they said $1000. I can't remember if I simply hung up on them or just dropped the phone in shock. |

First, let's hope we keep this thread to ourselves...........
I have installed this pylon twice in Bayliner's with outboard motors. http://www.overtons.com/modperl/overtons/detail/pdetail2.cgi?r=detail_view&item_num=18747
Installation was easy. Do the extra stuff right the first time. Use a good quaility high speed drill bit to drill the holes in the braces that extend to the corners of the boat and make sure that you use all stainless hardware to mount the base plate to the boat.
On a side note I have pulled everything except tubes with this pylon without any problems. |

The above or any swivel-eze pole will work well for about $100, I put one my first boat I used for wakeboarding (http://www.bierbower.net/procraft/) and it worked out great. (OK, the ski pylon did, maybe not the "wakeboat") _________________ Founder of Monster Tower Wakeboard Towers

Well, I was wondering how the supports would work as well because the boat's engine compartment it kind of in the way and there are seats to the sides of it. So I'm not sure what the best setup would be. I'm not sure if I even have the right tools (or confidence) to be drilling holes into the boat myself either |

Your drawing looks very similar to the pic of this bayliner:

This is similar to the ones I installed. I would recommend taking the brace arms back to the corners of the boat and sacrificing the comfort of the two back seats. Your pylon will be much stronger. Plus those brace arms come with quick release pins so that you can take them off if you wish. |
