i was just wondering what size trampoline and shape would be best to buy to practise tricks in the off season..and if you use netting and a handle or what ever any tips will be of great help...cheers _________________ GO HARD OR GO HOME |

| I've got a 12 ft tramp w/o the safety net. I have only fallen off once(realized the ground is much harder landing than on the trampoline). I was trying front flips and over-rotated and my momentum carried me forward. I also use a handle. |

People will probably disagree with me on this one but I say go with the cloth springs rather than the metal springs(if you are focusing on getting it for waketraining). I say this because you get much less air/bounce forcing you to learn how to flip faster, i.e. more realistic in comparison to behind the boat. I have a metal spring and my buddy has the cloth. I can barely get a whirly on his and whirly5's are no problem with mine. Same with off axis, on a spring you can hit sevens and 9s but on a cloth its really really hard to get a seven. This difficulty forces your body to build your core muscles. What I eventually did to mine to help with building muscle for tricks is bolt some shoes to a skate deck and use that, then it it got a little unrealistic I bolted a set of 5lb plates to each end of the deck. The only positive that I see with a metal spring version is that by spinning a lot more you get a better air awareness; however by spinning faster on the cloth you might accomplish the same thing, I use both so I can give an opinion on using just one. Good luck, ohh yah we dont have nets on ours either, just wakeboard handles. _________________ Hold up....Wait a minute.... Let me put some pimpin in it! mmmmph |

always make sure you hang onto the handle. I usually find i can pull myself out of a dodgy position (i.e. about to land on my head or neck) by having that bit of leverage.
Build up to things slowly. E.g. land a backflip (tantrum rotation) before trying a whirly. Land a front flip before trying a slim chance (my fav)
Try to take tricks up first rather than thinking about the rotation.
You would want a 12 footer as a minimum i reckon. I have a 12 and having an extra foot or two on either side would add a bit of confidence IMO. |

Not one doubt in my mind spend the extra cash and get the net, to me its like saying lets go wakeboarding without a vest. get a net.

| If you get a net then you have to attach your handle to said net and that isn't fun. Thats like having a terrible stretch rope because the net gives when you pull, making raleys and such very hard. I suggest getting a 12ft or more, no net, tie rope to nearby tree at about 15ft up and jump away. the leverage from the tree gives you more bounce and will not give. shaggyboarder, dont be a girl you dont need a net. Just work up to things. |

All the nets i've seen are well above my head so is the rope coming from the tree then against the net angled down to you when you are on the ground? Also I'm not saying I'm great on the tramp but if your having trouble staying on the trampoline then work up to the trick dont just go for the mobe.
Also does anyone think that o/a spins translate from the trampoline to the water because right now I have 6 different o/a 5's(hs fs, hs bs, ts fs, ts bs, switch ts fs, switch hs fs) and 3 different o/a 7's (hs fs, ts fs, and ts bs) and am thinking about starting my o/a spins behind boat. |

Houstonj yeah the net is angled just about the same as you would ride behind a boat with a good size pylon, the tramp helps me alot on my oa spins just on the water for me the first rotation i leave the handle at my hip longer than on the tramp. _________________ Random Acts Of Dumbness Will Always Be Rewarded. |

| I have a 12 ft. with a rope attached to a tree. I don't have a net, and can't really say that it would have helped me any. I have never had a problem flying off OUT OF CONTROL- occasionally I do have to jump off, but its easy to just land on your feet. If the trampolines you are looking at come with a net, you may as well get it, and if you dont like the net, or don't feel that you need it, then you can just take it down. Also, a 14 ft. would probably be ideal, but a 12 ft. definitely works just fine. |

wakesnake you should be fine on a 12 without a net and the handle will definately help you to bail some moves safely. I have a 14 and have never came off. The first thing you should practice before the big moves is jumping as high as you can and concentrating on staying dead centre of the tramp. Once this becomes second nature try your moves and you will find that you naturally stay in a very safe position on the tramp. _________________ Shout out 2 Muz... Will never 4get you mate... |

| we have a net on our tramp, and it works really well even with the rope. it's saved me a few times from tricks that i can do no problem. same with my friends. everynow and then one of them will do a simple trantrum to blind and land funny and shott into the net. it's definatly worth the extra money for it. too many injuries can happen with out the net. |

| Many people are talking about nets and safety. While the net does offer some extra protection, I heard the best protection is to actually put the trampoline in a hole so that the mat is level with the ground. With some padding around the trampoline, that should be as safe or maybe safer than the net, and if you're willing to shovel for a while, it won't cost you a dime. |

that might be a great idea IF you are willing to spend the time, and i you are willing to take falls to the ground from 4-6 feet up.
Think about it. if you're jumping, land a trick and get a funny bounce, you'll be about 5 feet up over the ground. i'm sure i wouldn't want to land on my back/shoulder/ anything doing that. thet nets at least keep you on somthing semi-soft. |

When you do get a trampoline. Cross your springs. It gives you more bounce. The handle helps with saving yourself if you do not have a net. I only feel off once. _________________ Always looking for a pull in Florida... |
