It is a step up from a 180, but its not too difficult, and is the core to future spins like 5's and 7s. If you can get a solid handle pass down, thats half the battle.

The most important thing to remember I think is to wait for the pop off the wake before throwing a 3. I was throwing 180s no prob, and tried for the longest time to do a 3 and I kept flying off axis. I fixed it by waiting for the pop off the wake and then rotating. Usually you dont start rotating until you are halfway through the wake. THe majoirty of the spinning is done over top of the second wake. I dunno watch some clips, that always helps. Keep the handle tight to your hip and just keep at er.

pop first then spin. keep the rope close to your hip for a easyer handle pass.

POP, PULL then PASS easy as pie......

It is a big step but once you get the first one they are supper easy to get dialed in....

Let's put it this way, it took me less tries to land my first backroll than it did for my first 3....backroll was like 5 tries in one set... the 3 was like weeks of pain before I got one... Boy, I'm glad those days are over...

PEACE

I think that the key to the handle pass is not rushing it. I know that you only really have a split second to make the pass but when I started trying 3's I would almost panic trying to pass the handle and spin as fast as I could. You almost have to concentrate on the pass and not the spin. I think once you make the pass the rope will actually unwind you the last 180.
Weird enough I actually landed a TS 360 before a HS. On the toeside I felt like I was over rotating so I thought I could try for a 5. It never happened. For those of you with this problem stick to the three.
